I always enjoy your videos Diane. I love how you show us so carefully on how to search for those viable seeds. I do have a question for you. I grew california giant zinnias this year, love them, so many beautiful colours. But I'm not seeing too many dried heads yet even though we are well into September. To get the mixed colours do I need to save from each colour flower? I imagine I would how can I expect to get orange flowers from the seed of a pink one. What do you think?

Thank you for giving such great instructions. You teach how to recognize viable seeds, even listening for the sound of seeds when they fall.

You picked flowers that were not ready or dried. The pale seeds will dry and be ready for spring planting. You may want to do your home work on flowers.

What a great video! Can you tell me if the color I save will be the color of the flower when I plant the seeds?Thank you.

Look at the bottom of each flower, you will find viable seeds there, collect them. I noticed the double ones are harder to collect. Doubles are my favourite.

Thanks! I'm quite sure those white ones were no good as you said.

Do you have a video on seperating seeds? I got some thai basil seeds from trade unclean alot of work getting them clean. -
Diane: We also had a cooler summer than normal. Final frost this week finished the summer garden. I never collected Zinnia seeds before. Nice video on how to do it! Bernard
