I tried that last summer and it grew like crazy.... the potato that was!!

i was told that you have to cut the eyes off of the potato and not put it into direct sunlight. Also to shave the bottom of the rose stem a little and take of the thorns and cut the leaves off 2 thirds of the way up. Apparently you don't need any leaves at all. Oh and you cant touch the open parts of the stem.

It did"t work. I got inedible potatoes. Any tips on how to stop this and actually get roses would be welcome.

I Did the same thing but i cut potatoes in half to not waste alot of food amd did not cover with bottle. I live in riverside,Ca and we are in late november adn it is sunny and not too cold outside most of the time.

But 2 weeks later the cutting died and potato plant grew.

I tried it and know 20 people that tried it too and roses never rooted or grew but only the potatoes are growing. Definitely not working.

given the right conditions rose stem will root and grow new plant. Potato is providing a median to grow in.
