I'm a certified AH rat, and I make a ton of gold there. Some people like to fish to relax in-game...I play the AH. You're right about crafting professions...I have a tailoring/enchanting toon, and by far I make more gold by disenchanting greens, blues, and purples farmed from old raids and selling the reagents, and converting raw cloth into "Bolts" and selling the mats than I ever would by making things and trying to sell them. And that isn't even my main toon...my main has skinning and mining, and The Broken Isles has been good to me. The best trick I learned about playing the AH came from WoWhead...open the interface and and click "search" with the search field blank. That will pull up every item on your server. Next, toggle the "time left" tab to "shortest"...that will show you all the auctions getting ready to expire. The biggest mistake I see people make on the AH is leaving their auctions open-ended...with no buyout price. This is especially true with crafting reagents. As someone who both sells a ton of mats on the AH, and has BOUGHT a ton to power-level a profession, when someone goes to the AH looking for mats to level or create something, they want that item RIGHT NOW...not in two days when the auction ends and they get outbid anyway. Crafters mostly ignore those auctions, myself included. BUT...because I have a pretty deep knowledge about the mats I deal in, I'm able to find those ignored auctions when they're about to expire and nab them for coppers on the gold. The SECOND biggest mistake people make is starting their opening bids WAY too low. If you know your market, you should be able to set an opening bid that will both entice your customers, AND insure that you don't get burned by people like me looking for just those auctions. It's insane the deals I've found, only because someone started too low and didn't set a buyout. Anyway, great vid...
