Hi, I am about to put a new raised bed garden in my back yard and I will use timber framing. It is currently 'grassed' however there are many other 'weeds', broadleaf etc in the grassed area. I have seen people prepping their grassed area by spraying
and killing off all the green living matter then getting rid of it before making the raised bed. Should you do this? When it rains it appears that the soil drains well so I dont believe there is a lot of clay. In fact I live on the central plateau in Turangi New Zealand so the soil is considered volcanic, but this town was built in the 60's and the top soil would be just that. -
Should tomato roots be left in the ground since they can possibly harbor diseases that persist in the soil?
-
they still make latches like that these days but just plain they are called a butterfly latch the gate can swing both ways

Hi Mark! Just wanted to wish you and your loved ones a wonderful Holiday Season. Your videos are at the top of my favorites list. So well done. So informative! Thanks for all you do to evolve and share your regenerative gardening skills!

Great explaination.1) Raised beds are s must for clay soil but not necessary for sandy soil. No till gardening is for sandy soil only. Am I correct.??? 2)But you can have no tiil gardening on clay soil only if you grow roots into your clay soi. By doing that your clay soil would become peat ofloamy soil. Am I correct??? 3)In tropical / heavy rain soil you need to havr raised bed so that the soil is not anaerobic. Am I correct,???

Some plants do not use mycorrhizal fungi you have plants from the brassica family.
-
so is it better to cut the weeds at ground level such as with a scuffle hoe than to pull to make room for a seedbed
-
Wow, You are a fantastic teacher and have a great channel. New sub : )

Hi Mark, may I have a copy of this article? It is stirring up my scientific side. If not let m know where to find it. This is fascinating.

@I AM ORGANIC GARDENING The item is a gate latch. Where is the rest of the gate?

Really nice video. Thanks.

Thanks Mark, another great encouraging video! Hope you and your son are well sir.
I've been thinking a lot about Paul Gautschi's garden compared to a living root/soil food web approach.. although Paul was not 'growing' or 'building' soil directly, there must have been a tipping point where his compost/woodchip covering fed and insulated the crops enough to sustain them through winter (therefore creating sustained periods of a living root in the ground). That along with the fungal network from his Orchard root systems. Do you think Paul is still essentially just growing food in compost or do you think he's also reached a place where there's living soil in there too? -
Hey Mark - Just playing along with the quiz: Also...you pulled the roots out. They should've stayed in for future needs.

More great info I dont know what your cat is for ;-) But looks cool. The clay you have is like what we have here.

Again an excellent demonstration and detailed work.
Is that Osaka red mustard? -
Awesome info. Can I ask (just curious) where you are that your grass is still so green?

You mistake is that brassica family do not use the known mycorrhiza but they do have with other fungi as I see in my garden every year but what they are ? one can only see the white museleem around the roots. I think this is some sort of fungi that has not been edentifeid yet
Your figer hanging in your barn is to warn away evel or to do with the wether but very interesting with the ears
keep up the good work I think a lot oe people can lern basik natur -
Spinach = brassica= non-mycorrhizal! Love this video, so informative!!nThanks!
