We had one warm day in winter and my best broccoli plant decided on taking a trip to the moon!! Now I know it's not lost and juicing is a great idea.. probably the best idea for my other bolted broccoli as well as I love 'green drink' after breakfast!!

Regarding medical marijuana: I'm not into marijuana, but if I were, I wouldn't smoke it. I'd ingest it. I find it ironic that people that endorse using marijuana for medical reasons often smoke the stuff when they use it recreationally (as opposed to only eating marijuana products). And before someone says, "But marijuana doesn't have the tars found in tobacco-based cigarettes!", consider this:
Smoke from cooking fires kills 2 million people a year (one source says 4 million and another says 1.5 million - anyhow it's a lot of people). They're not burning tobacco full of tars. It's just regular smoke. Chronic exposure to ANY kind of smoke can kill. In many countries, food is cooked indoors on fires without chimneys. Usually these countries are warmer countries and the windows are open. The amount of smoke that builds up isn't as much as you might think. If you were in such a house when they started cooking you probably wouldn't have to run outside to get a breath of fresh air. And yet it's enough to kill people over time. I'm explaining this because some of you might be envisioning a room so full of smoke that everyone's hacking and coughing and think, "Well, I don't put out that much smoke when I smoke weed, so I'm okay." It's not like that at all. You'd get more smoke in your lungs from smoking anything (weed, tobacco, whatever) than from being in one of those rooms with a cook fire going. Of course the odds are that it won't kill you because the numbers that die from this are a very small percentage of those exposed to such cook fires, but it can't be good for the health of those it doesn't kill. Merely not dying from smoke inhalation but putting up with health problems because it's less likely to kill you than cigarettes is setting the bar rather low.

Broccoli and some other greens bolt when the weather gets to warm. I hear they sometimes bolt when it gets too cold also. I suspect that this is the plant's way of saying "Oh, crap! I'm out of time! I have to make seeds now or I'll have no descendants to carry my DNA!"

Quote: "Had an amaaaazing time!"
Tell me, why you Americans have always "GREAT TIMES" - whatever you do, but are, at the same time, consuming prescribed "Happy Pills" by the trillions - 10 times more than the rest of the world combined.
Is that where you "great times" are coming from?
PS
I bet you had "great times" in Afghanistan and Iraq too and all the other countries you wrecked! -
if i jumped in the ocean, I'd see a lot of fish, that doesn't mean i should hold my breath and Go down with them. If you've ever seen your friends on Pot, you know what it does, and you know how it changes people over time. hitler would want you to smoke it while he stole away your freedom. I don't want anyone to do it. I've seen my friends go from being very smart, to speaking slow and and doing wrong, All because of the effect marijuana has on people longterm

Please note I'm not John just someone else who knows their plants and seen John's videos all. That being said the leafs are what help the plant turn sun light into energy that it uses to grow. Take a few at a time and you should be fine. For when the heads will from it depends on the variety you have, your climate and conditions, and a few other things. I've had some that never did get heads but had big wonderful leafs to munch on.

I thought rumors says broccoli cauliflower cabbage and carrots are man made? can anyone clarify this...thanks
-
If you do I suggest you pick from the bottom This is a good way to make sure all the plant is used but remember the less leaves the less sunlight the plant can use so moderation is the name of the game

John what the hell is up with enovalee peeing on your garden????

WOW John, Soooooo happy to hear you talk about growing marijuana someday! I've always wanted to ask you a similar question, having not seen it in other videos. And also happy to hear you mention the fact that it does not have to be smoked, and has medicinal value!!!!!

I'm interested in the topic of I think crop rotation? Where you strategically plant something in particular where something else was because the first crop leaves the soil more prepared for the second? My mom is really into this with flowers but I haven't figured the equivalent for greens/veggies....any information about that? To start, I have grown/harvested a lot of chard and kale, what makes sense to plant after that?

Sorry to touch such a nerve with you. My words were clear - "further your education" - this does not infer that you are, as you stated "under-educated, or uneducated". No insult there, just your perception of my message - no offense meant. As for your Rousseau comment, we could debate the merits of his treaty to determine if he intended a socialist view or a libertarian view but that discussion is best held over a beer or a coffee. Let's get back to gardening;; biggest tomato wins.

1. We are NOT held in servitude in anyways. 2. We have "signed" the social contract to be a part of this regime, if anyone don't like it, they can pack up and leave. We are not slaves. As for the Detroit and Oakland analogy, I was trying to illustrate the point of misusing a term to exaggerate in disproportion. I am not say anything about you labelling those cities as a "warzone". Finally, I would never remotely hint someone as under-educated, or uneducated. That kind of insult is just low.

Why are you turning this into something political? Go away with your Ron Paul trolling please!
