Which are the best Indoor Grow Lights for you ?

A look at some of my indoor Grow Lights and which I prefer. Be they T5 tubes or CFL or even LED they will all grow plants well but which are best suited to your needs. Personally I prefer the T5 lights as they are cooler than some of the CFL ones and can be placed closer to the plants without any risk of scorching. If you only have a small space to cover then a larger CFL lamp would suffice, or even a smaller T5 tube light. But even the tiny CFL bulbs and small LED panels are beneficial above your plants as they will increase the light levels and make them grow better. Happy Gardening.

Did you find grow lights affected your electricity bill much? I'm looking at trying an IKEA led grow light kit and am wondering if it will drive my bill up.

Hi Dan, Nice video! How much do you reckon the 4 foot fluorescent tube setup in the video costs you to run per day? Also, do you have any experience with starting tomatoes and peppers under grow lights and then moving them to a greenhouse? If so, since I'm in Dublin, could you give me some kind of timeline telling me when I should sow and at what stage of plant growth I should move them from under the fluorescent tubes into the greenhouse? good informal vid/my horticultaral days are over but just a few tips to pass on/1 dont buy expensive mylar/for reflection get emergency camping blanket 2 for a quid at most pound shops/2 cfl is best for veg do a mix of 4 x 6500 blue spectrum and 4 x 2700 red spec/about 20 watt bulbs x 8 = 160 watts perfect for veg/3get a decent led for flower make sure it pulls at least 350 watts from the wall,depending on what ur growing remember to reduce the time the light is on for flowering plants abt week 6-8/4 move to the right side of the pennines lol,good luck m8.

will the lights become too hot for the plants? why not try LED plant lights, better result with less heat.

A good experiment to show different results by different grow light! while i would like to say that a good result does not relate to the T5 feature, T5 is only about the tube size. what makes the grow light really work for the plants is the light spectrum composition of the emitted light. red light and blue light are necessary for plants growth, other lights are actually hardly absorbed by plants. Different proportion of red and blue light is going to serf different stages. for example for this tube grow light we can use 3:1 RB ratio for seeding stage, 1:5 RB ratio for vegetative stage and 8:1 ratio for bloom stage. Red and Blue Leds always consume less power than the white ones. and to further enlarge the planting area and lower the cost, i prefer those tubes separate in certain distance from one another.

Lumens and lux are not adapted to light measurement for plants because they are based on human eye absorption.

You have to use a PAR meter to measure µmol/m2/s (Photosynthetically active radiation).

Does the light meter measures lumen or umol?

i have few 50 watt 4400 lumens LED BATTEN and 40 watt 3600 Lumens both are 6000 Kelvin DAY LIGHT WHITE beam angle 120 degress can i use these for indoor growing vegie and flowering please

I'm trying to grow greens. Kale,Spinach,Chard... sweet bell peppers, and tomatoes.
I think I would need two different lighting systems...
I will only be growing inside, IF anyone knows which is best for greens, bell peppers and tomatoes
