What We're Harvesting from the OYR Garden in Early July (Zone 5)
Tips, Tricks
We’ve had a very cool and wet spring and early summer, but the garden is still brimming with life in early July. Today I thought I’d share with you some of what we’re currently harvesting here in zone 5. If you shop on Amazon, you can support OYR simply by clicking this link (bookmark it too) before shopping: http://www.amazon.com/?tag=oneya-20 One Yard Revolution is all about growing a lot of food on a little land using sustainable organic methods, while keeping costs and labor at a minimum. Emphasis is placed on improving soil quality with compost, mulch, and compost tea. No store-bought fertilizers, soil amendments, pesticides, compost activators, etc. are used. Nice garden thank for the video

how many cubic feet would you say you have in your garden?
-
wow you have some fun and unique varieties growing! Music garlic is one of my favorites to grow, I've found that it has a sweeter flavor of dried in the shade though. Have you had any issues with bitterness from drying it in the sun?
-
I love growing Jimmy Nardono Peppers. I usually get 30-40 per plant. I grow them until they are super red. The flavor is amazing.

Garlic should never be dried in the sun. I do love growing music garlic. Those look grear.

I really enjoy your channel. I live in Southern Ontario, I think a similar climate to yours. I just harvested my garlic yesterday, I grow Sweet German (a porcelain type, like your music) and Chesnok Red (a true purple stripe). I tie mine in bundles of ten and hang them in the shed for two weeks to cure. If you cure your garlic in the sun it alters the flavour, it's better to cure at outside temperatures but out of the sun. The info on the Boundary garlic website is useful and will confirm this.

Great harvest, thanks for sharing!

Your garden look so beautiful! Mine is so sad this year. Squirrels, rabbits and the four floods so far this year. It just won't stop raining here.
-
Great video! Just curious about a couple of things. Do you have issues with things going to seed causing havoc the following year throughout your garden? As the spinach variety.. but I'm sure you'll have a future video explaining that. :)

Sorry to be so late Patrick, I've been without internet for 5 days, what a nightmare lol Your garden looks so good! It's been a hard year again, have you heard of the polar vortex, I heard that one 2 years ago, it would explain the cold temps we are having on the east cost and I'm afraid it's here to stay!!!

That is a great garlic harvest. Especially for the amount of sun!

Wow! You have 3 times the variety of plants I have and I have more than I can understand and take care of, Patrick! +OneYardRevolution | Frugal & Sustainable Organic Gardening I just shake my head in wonder at this video. Wow! Maybe when you have a few months off in winter you can really recharge your batteries. I am in awe. And, LOL, I really appreciate that compliment from you and Eric +Double Dog Farm ~ Shoestring Gardening on a KISS Principle , not so sure it's true after seeing this! But, you have my humble thanks!

+OneYardRevolution | Frugal & Sustainable Organic Gardening I'm waiting for the "Not in Your Grocery Store" series to complete so I can make my "what to get for next year list.." Btw, I'm having serious "dinosaur kale envy," mine never broke four inches - it's more of a "mouse kale.." Not sure what happened there! LOL!
-
So lush and green garden and looks like you guys are enjoying your veggies!
-
Looking really good, Patrick. Everything has filled in so nicely. You mentioned you only have one area with enough sun to grow tomatoes, how do you practice crop rotation with only one area?
-
Aw Mannn. You're plants are so HAPPY in their dreamy abode.
(Exits to go shadowbox with this powdery mildew in mine, that's been trying to creep in early this season 😒)
