What We're Harvesting from the OYR Garden in Early August (Zone 5)
Tips, Tricks
One of the great things about this time of year is that there’s so much growing in the garden that our meals come more and more from the garden and less and less from the grocery store. Today I thought I’d show you what I’m harvesting for a vegetable soup that, except for some salt, will be made entirely from garden ingredients. If you shop on Amazon, you can support OYR simply by clicking this link (bookmark it too) before shopping: http://www.amazon.com/?tag=oneya-20 Join me on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/oneyardrevolution One Yard Revolution is all about growing a lot of food on a little land using sustainable organic methods, while keeping costs and labor at a minimum. Emphasis is placed on improving soil quality with compost, and mulch. No store-bought fertilizers, soil amendments, pesticides, compost activators, etc. are used. Where did you get your tree collards from? Did you plant them from seed or send away for the plants. Do you overwinter them? Thanks for any info! :-) Thanks,Steve

Nice accomplishment. I grew spinach, amaranth, okra, thai peppers, onions and mint in Tucson AZ. The taste is nice and organic. The supply was enough, I did not have to buy them in market for my consumption. It is not about money but personal satisfaction that Federal Reserve Bank is not in control of my food.

I have a tree collard too, a purple one. Need ideas on how to cook and prepare. My green tree collard died, or should I say it was killed--by me, neglected it during our move :(

Potatoes can be the very dangerous because they can be poisonous, that's y I don't grow them

How do you keep the squirrels out?? Here in New Jersey I'm lucky to harvest 20 tomatoes in a season (not much for my many plants!) I can't afford new fencing and don't think it will help.
