Weekend Garden Tour for July 10 2016
Tips, Tricks
Hello everyone and welcome back for another weekend look at the gardens. Kinda stormy here this weekend but I figured I would try to get in a visit in between the thunderstorms. Those are pretty awesome to watch, but very hard to shoot garden videos during ... Aside from the radishes bolting I would have to say this first year playing in a real garden is coming along nicely. The peppers could use stronger starts and a bit of shade cloth when they first come outside but otherwise, things look good to me! Still more than pleased with how well that bunker garden is doing, with the small amount of soil that went in over all those lawn clippings I was expecting some grim results but got a green explosion instead! The peas seem to be hidden by the squash most of the time and aren't growing quite as well as everything else but those squash are just taking over the place. With a little luck that could make for quite a few pumpkins to choose from for Jack-o-lantern season, one of those giants would be a LOT of fun to work with! Alright well, thank you all for joining in for another weekly look at these gardens of ours. Hope you enjoy it & have a fantastic week ahead. Be safe and happy harvests! In which country is it all growing?I am from Russia.

You have some great looking pepper plants. Mine are at about the same size as yours.

how to harvest kale - pick the bottom leaves only. This allows the plant to keep producing at the top. You'll find they get taller and taller to compensate. I did this 2 years ago when I had kale in the garden and they were massive. I only planted half the amount of kale this year because they get overwhelming!
Last year I also planted the same sugar pie pumpkins and lemme tell you.... we are still eating their pies. Even my pie-loving father says those pies are the best, and he usually eats the "canned" variety. If you want my recipe, I can give that to you as well. -
corn is looking pretty good. i doubted the 3 sisters bunker bed but man it really seems to be producing. Yesterday was soggy in Northern Ontario too.
Thanks for the update, JT! -
The peppers and tomatoes seem to be slow producing fruit this years. Greens beans and snapped peas are just going crazy. Luttuce are producing really well cooler weathered. Your gardens look great everything coming out.

Man I have had zero luck with my habanero peppers this year they don't seem to want to flower and I have had them out since April.. My garden salsa, poblano, bell, and jalapeño peppers have all flowered and I just picked a fruit off my garden salsa today. Can't seem to make the habaneros do anything to save my life!
