in my garden the weed would grow in about 5-10 days, it cant work, not here :)

Not very feasible for a large garden with all vegetables. The time it takes to lay everything and buy things can be spent in weeding. Mulch from store for a large garden becomes cost ineffective. Weeding as such is killing my neck and back.

how long does it last?
-
isnt the compost an atmosphere for weed to regrow.?

GRASS CLIPPINGS for weeds. I turned sand to black dirt in three seasons buy just layering grass clippings.

yeah it only took a minute for her to do only 1 square foot. i wonder how long it would take if she did the entire garden

Common sense; newspaper has ink. Ink has toxins. Buy-buy organic garden.

I am not sure I understand about the black plastic she showed that was placed over the squash seeds (2:20). She said when they come up she will cover the plastic with mulch so it will look pretty. I am assuming she will cut holes in the plastic so the plants can come through and that the black plastic helps germinate and protect the compost from getting new seeds blown in. I am not sure if she cuts the hole before the seeds come up or after. Please confirm my understanding. I am new at this. Thank you.

All these videos i find would work good on small gardens, but on large gardens like i grow wouldn't be feasible. Trying to look for a way to help keep weeds down. I have very bad knees, i can walk fine most days but at any time i get on my knees for too long i can't hardly walk the next day. Plus with all the other things i have to do nearly every day, the last thing i want to do is hoe gardens as large as mine.

@Bob Ark the news print is bio degradable.

if you will add wood chips on top of what you put down, it will also make the garden retain moisture to where you will not have to water near as much.. the wood chips will also keep weeds from eventually seeding on your compost from blown in seeds. With the wood chips it separates anything that lands on them from the dirt that would allow them to germinate. the chips will also break down over time adding nutrients to the garden (compost tea) eliminating the need to fertilize as much if at all.. over the years you will have to add more chips less and less each year..

Ummm ... what about the chemicals in the newsprint.

i have a major problem with weeds in my garden which have caught up with me during the summer while. Due to college work and a swollen knee ive not got round to pulling up the weeds, so they are as taller than me. My goal just now is to get them all pulled up and use left over silage wraps to put on top of them. Which evidently cooks the weeds dry so hopefully wont have any tall weeds in and around the cider apples net year and the rest of this year. Or in the veggie patch!! :)
