Vinegar And Dish Soap Organic Weed Killer It Works
Tips, Tricks
Please read full details here: http://www.thediyworld.com/blog/?p=1541 Thanks to my viewers for the suggestions and comments which lead me to try this all natural weed killer. I got a sprayer and mixed up some pure off the shelf vinegar and some dish soap to spray my weeds with. I have an electric fence and the weeds are always growing up under the fence and touching the wires, shorting out the fence. This mixture was suggested to me by multiple youtube viewers of my videos. It works. I am quite amazed but it works well and fast. Sadly it is not a lasting effect but it does kill off everything it touches. Within a week though you would never know it because new growth soon takes over again. I have heard that adding salt to the mixture creates a lasting effect and I plan to try that out soon. I will do a video when I try it and share my results. Does anyone know what is the role of the soap? I keep on seeing Dawn, did anyone try something else other than that blue soap??
-
Whats the point of the soap???
I'm trying to understand what role it plays -
I've got a blackberry plant growing where I want to kill off some grass, what should I do? I dont want to hurt my berries, and the grass is coming through my woodchips.
-
This will not kill them permanently, I use a product callled Quicksilver the best in the market and works like a charm everywhere you apply and doesn't kill your grass.
-
will the grass and weed grow back fast after you sprayed it?
-
Dish soap is NOT organic. It may be safe, but it is NOT in any form organic.
-
I can spray the same area for less then 30 cents using a common grass and broad leaf herbicide and have a 100% kill that lasts for weeks, possibly the season. This herbicide has a very high LD50 meaning it is among the least toxic products available. Why would I use vinegar at nearly $2 for half a kill. One thing for sure I am going to quit consuming vinegar, that stuff will kill you. It's actually acetic acid and will kill the worms.

it does work you must find another ingridient to help it to stick may be soap would work it would be safe around pets i recon
-
why not experiment with sea water as well its natural
-
did this kill nutgrass?
-
Im not even trying to kill weeds or anything but farm-like videos are kinda interesting.

The vinegar does not kill weeds, just burns off the tops, sometimes. The guy must be rich applying expensive vinegar and soap, with lots of extra time on his hands to spray 5-7 times over summer.
-
it kills the grass too! dang, I want an organic weed killer that does NOT kill my grass.
-
Best stuff I ever used.
dish soap acts like a glue to set the vinegar on the leaves....going to do this to morning glories. -
Why did ;you name your video ...organic weed killer - It Works! - when you are concluding it does NOT work (repeat every 6 days) and it's expensive too! Misleading!
-
Do it all over again every 4-5 days?... those vinegar ain't cheap.
-
the plants like the phosphates in the soap!
-
I use vinegar, soap, and gin. Yep, gin, the cheap stuff, LOL! It seems to kill the roots as opposed to just the tops of the plants using just vinegar and soap.

I currently have my entire lawn full of weeds. I am planning of using this method and start pouring some grass seeds. Now will this method taint the soil for any further plantation such as grass?
-
Doesn't vinegar herbicide turn the soil too acidic for all other plants as well? I'd never doubt its effectiveness, but it sounds like an organic version of agent orange to me. Pls tell me about your experience.
