Venus Flytrap Care 101 -Simple Steps! -How to Grow
Tips, Tricks
Properly caring for a Venus flytrap is crucial if you want your little plant to survive longer than just a few months or even a year. I've had mine for 2 1/2 years now and they continue to grow and multiply! In fact a couple of them are now flowering. :D Common questions about flytraps: What do you feed them? Is raw meat ok? How do they catch their food? What kind of container do they need? How should they be watered? Is tap water ok? Can they survive outside? Do they need those fancy humidity domes? Did you know that flytraps require a dormancy cycle? In the future, I'll release my video showing how I've preserved mine through their dormancy period. Did you find those little Venus flytraps or grow them from seeds?

Thank you for your answer . Most helpful. I was just wondering about the humidity. I spray a few times a day and use the water tray method.

Great lesson.you have some impressive looking plants. What mix do use for soil. Also I live in New England where the humidity is not too high, can I still put them in direct sun with out burning.

I have a question about the flowers the flowers all of mine have withered and now look like little black balls should I remove the stock remove the heads or should I just let everything be?

Hi love your videos! I just bought 3 vft`s from Walmart and I live in Pa and I have been putting them outside in their original small pots they came in and making sure I keep their soil moist and i even mist them but I do bring them after about 6 -8 hours and mist them then place them in a window with light (just not as harsh as I dont wanna fry them from the direct sun,I am trying to get them to adjust and I dont feel comfy transplanting them just yet as I would like to have them all in one large pot at some point, I have a big block of eco-dirt that I bought for my hermit crabs, would this be ok to use when I want to transplant them? Also should I wait until next spring to do it? Also I plan on leaving them outside more in the fall and winter and when it gets close to freezing I will bring them in and cover them with a bag and put them in the fridge down in my basement? Please let me know If I am on the right track.

I live in Westren Canada and it isn't humid there, its actually quite dry. Also, the temp can reach a maximum of 30 C (86 F). You said that you don't need a dome but because of where I'm located should I keep a dome over my VFT?

I gave my flytrap some small pieces of dried blood worms and they are still closed. It's been a few weeks, is this normal? I am new to carnivorous plants and the plant itself is very small.
