I live in Brisbane and I have found ginger to be an incredibly slow growing plant. I rent my house, so perhaps it's a matter of soil quality however that is improving. I planted most of my ginger in the summer. The ginger I planted in the spring didn't grow at all until summer anyway. What should I expect from my ginger now? Should I wait a little longer to harvest it? Perhaps the end of March or early April?

It's not a matter of JUST picking up a piece of ginger from your grocer or supermarket. This ginger has been treated with a sprout inhibitor and the results will be far from desired. -

I used to know that ginger's grow more productively in soil but as I have watched this video, I learned that ginger can also grow as productive as it is in a container. You really did a great job in presenting this valuable information. I am very much thankful for making us learned through your kindness.

Simmer a lot of roots for most of two days on very low heat. Put the resulting water in ice cube trays. Use one in your pot of tea, coffee, soups and stews. Makes you feel warm.

Hey Phil and everyone
I'm growing ginger inside over the winter... and recently I have noticed a cat piss smell from the soil.. I have a little cat and I think he has chosen my gingers to pee on instead of going out in the snow
Is it possible to ''save'' the gingers...?
I'm thinking about taking them up and cleanse them with water and change the soil?
Any advice on this cat pee ginger problem? ;) -
do they flower?
