i have an algae i'm trying to identify in my new freshwater tank. it looks like dandelion pollen or like an umbrella that's been inverted from the wind. the long skinny end gets stuck to the glass and the bulbous part at the end of it just flows around. it's small and white.

I am a little confused on what is beard algae. I hear that term and string algae as well as filamentous algae. Would you please be able to clarify between the differences for the common freshwater version and what is a good way to cure it... maybe show some examples. Thank you so much and I found that your videos have been very informative.
