This guys right... just mix a crap load of organic junk no one wants in .... weeds
The super fast way to make er bake clay soil into aerated soil...
The way i did it cause im impatient lazy and smart is...
I gather every weed rotted dry stick and brush i could find
Tangle vines are good too i grabbed a bunch o those.
--- use gloves ---
Made a huge pile next to the area that is barren. Waited till it was dry day.
Did'nt chop up the weeds just piled em and bend em all up kinda wanted them alive.
I figured maybe if they move around under there it will keep it loose.
anyways....
Dug up the clay areas top layer i did like 6 inches, i dunno i spent a few hours digging off the top of this area.
It was some work not gonna lie digging clay ground is a pain.
I Tossed it into two separate piles one a small pile that's just the clay dirt for a cover later.
The rest of the dirt all on top of all those weeds and sticks added more weeds sticks
...
As i went cause it the dirt pile was compressing to much, but the vines are very good.
Looking back i could of been lazier n gathered weeds over a few days basically a half live heap of weeds brush and sticks, you really need a lot i mean a lot of them.
Then i Took a bunch of fairly dead sticks drove them straight into the bare ground i dug up all over so they were sticking up i threw some rocks i found down to there too.
figured this would fluff it a bit when i thew the vegetation n dirt back down.
...
I Tossed the pile mixed with weeds and dirt back down on the ground were the clay dirt came from, all over i spread it out.
I Tossed the clay from the pile that was just the clay dirt on top of that to cover it.
I also had another pile were i got some top soil were i found a lot of weeds cause it was actually pretty rich looking black dirt and put that over the top of all that..
.. now ..
I Made it uneven so there are little mounds here and there, with the sticks sticking out i stuck in.
I figured this will make the water drain more randomly when it rains too
Walked away...
didn't wet it down on purpose or anything else.
....
I came back to it about a week later a few days after it rained, when it was dry again.
Yanked all the baby weeds push any of the live old weeds back under the ground with a stick and threw down some fast growing flowers down out of cheap pack of mixed flowers and some single flowers i dunno what they were cause i threw out the pack.
Watered the ground Then ...
I just been going back yanking weeds once in a while, hey whatever it worked.
...
result so far is
...
I got some huge plants growing right now and its only been about a month and a half.
It was just rocky clay before that nothing was growing but moss not even weeds.
..
you need a lot of weeds and stuff for this in the first place though
i got a crap load of wild weeds by the house
so i just went over there and chopped a huge amount down to do it -
In my part of Texas all we have is sand and clay.
-
that looks like concrete lol...i have the same type of clay in my backyard we have a pretty nice garden, funny thing is 25 years ago our whole property was a corn field

Looking at your clay, it's clear why you appreciate your wood chips and compost pile so much!

I live in GA, and my soil is straight red clay. I'm not even going to try to garden in it. For me it will be raised beds filled with vermiculite, peat moss and compost. The first year will be a bit expensive, but it's worth it. Working that clay would suck the joy right out of gardening for me.
-
That looks very similar to my soil. So, I added a mix of: manure, wood chips (free from tree people), cotton burr, mushroom compost, some small pebbles, plus coffee grounds- which you can get them free from Starbucks.

Good video. I heard rabbit droppings are supposed to be good too.

I actually let my weeds grow in between my rows, and till that into the garden, every year too! iverything gets tilled into my garden even cardboard, and paper , i also use wood chips,I cant use my leaves because i have bkack walnut! I use chicken , hoese goat manure and home made compost tea for fertilizer! I found pepper plants do really good on goat manure! dont know why but when it works you keep doing it! LOL love your show! keep up the good work!
