-
i have never grown a garden before and would like to get started in pots this year until we have room to do more and I know what I'm doing a little better. Is there a book you would recommend to get started.

One of the best homesteading videos I've watched and I'm glad you are really taking complete advantage of homesteading. I'm in the process of researching how to make wool yarn, clothes and bedding. Any tips or tricks to the trade??

Y'all are great. I'm a research scientist with a masters in biotechnology, and visiting Homestead Heritage down here in Texas tomorrow, if that tells people anything.

Adrenal crashes? Mmhmm, I hear ya, girl. I think the homesteading lifestyle can be both beneficial to your adrenals and also very taxing!
Thanks for all the great tips. I grew up in the country raising animals/gardens, cooking from scratch etc, so I do have a bit of experience, but still SO very much to learn...
This 'top five tips' list has been helpful in giving me a better idea of how I'm going to go about organizing all of this in general (ahem... not my strong suit to begin with!)
Had to laugh at the baby bunny part, as I have three little girls who keep asking when we'll move because moving to them pretty much means two things: 1. We'll live in a different house. And 2. There will be BUNNIES! :) -
would love to see the tool that you are talking about that works well for you for cutting hay.
-
I get wood chips for free and my son cuts wood where logging has been done.

WOW. so much information, it will take days to digest. Thank you very much for taking the time to post this video, I am on the verge of buying a home and have always wanted to have property to grow my own food, I garden and hunt now but am limited by my current living situation (renting). So much information, especially the part about not forcing your family into a lifestyle they may not want .... that is priceless. I have never thought of raising quail either I have hunted them and have eaten eggs but only on occasion, Mmmmm. Any way thank you again for this, it is nice to hear such raw thoughts from another perspective.

Excellent insights into 'common sense' knowledge that we should ALL never have allowed to be lost generation to generation. I'm a bit saddened that the internet has now become the main source for this info instead of it being passed down from family but, still gratified that it IS still available. ps.....the 'educational' aspect/idea of homesteading was a BIG eye opener for this old graybeard. This will be the next phase of MY self sufficiency /income stream.

I like that you're realistic! People need to hear it. I'm like you, I'll teach anyone.
