Tomato Leaf Curl Problems In this video, I will show you what caused the leaves of my tomato plants to curl. Initially, I thought that is due to overwatering as we have had some really hot days here in Arizona. However, after I put the watering on hold, the leaves on my tomato plants did not improved. So, I did some research and I found out that if spring was mild, the tomato plants grew faster than the root system. Then, when the extreme heat hit us, the tomato plants leaves were perspiring moisture faster than the roots were absorbing it and that caused the problem. Chances are, the leaves will not get straight again, but that will not affect the growth and production of tomatoes. Below, I will list a few university studies related to tomato leaf curl or rolling of the tomato leaves. The articles talk about other causes of the problem such as curly top tomato disease, watering, fertilizing and different weather conditions and the signs to recognize which one of the tomato leaf problems your plants might have. 1.
