Tomatillo has exploded
Tips, Tricks
Wow we have had a explosion on my tomatillo in the tomato bed. After doing some research I found one of the causes of such a mess is watering. We have had lots of rain lately and this could be the result. Also in my search for answers I stumbled on an article on growing tomatillos in containers. In the article it talks about needing two plants to pollinate, so I guess the loss won't be in vain. Maybe grow them in cloth pots next year. Whoa! I've never had one explode before! Best of luck and blessings to the rest of your crop.

I know many that have grown only one, and they got lots of fruit!! It may just be the type you plant? I only wish I knew, but they are new to me. I've never seen that "explosion" thing happen, and I would be curious to see, how a plant that looks as great as that one, would do. Of course if it started to rot or you worry about the other plants, then pull. It sure has lots of blooms huh? Thank you for sharing this, I love it when I can add another piece of information about plants and things that happen to them. Keep us posted ok? Curious if it harms other plants too. Bless

I never grew tomatillos, so I can't really help you on that one. Was that the only one? If it's not to late and this is not a fungal disease I would let it be and see what happens. There's a lot of gardening myth, I tend to oversee them and try things for myself ;)
Take care,
Elyse.
