ive gotten rid of it in my 75 gallon, scooped what seemed like all of it out of the tank then added surface agitation.

Not sure if you'll see this but Beunos Aires Tetras will get rid of any duckweed, easy plants in any tank. They are savage

I got some duckweed from you about a week ago and the next morning after I put it in my tank, all of it was gone because my rainbows (preacox and melanotaenia splendida australis) ate ALL of it, and there was quite a bit of it in there. So I guess I'll have to get some more, but I was so surprised because I was expecting it to take over.

Salvinia is FAR worse than duckweed because it gets huge! As big or bigger than water lettuce.

I put a piece of plastic under it in my 55 and scooped it out, haven't had a problem since

Buenos aires tetras ate all my duckweed but also started eating my other plants as well so I had to remove them, but they definitely got rid of the duckweed

Put in a turtle and the duckweed disappear overnight

Thank you Dustin ...I introduced duck weed to my planted tank that had a problem with some green long stranded algae ....once the duck weed propagated and covered the surface of my aquarium after a month or two the algae vanished ...of course you have to keep controlling the duckweed which isnt that much of a chore but the benefits are worth it ...its not a herpes of the aquarium but rather an antibiotic to cure aquariums ...thanks once again for the info

How many hours of light does the duckweed need to thrive?

I just added some to my 29 gallon. I've also got a 125 South American tank with uaru silver dollars geos and such. Surly it will be extra food for one of them. I bet the silvers eat it. Or the uaru.
