I have had a Jewel Black Raspberry plant that I bought from the local farmers market for 3 years now that I planted in a 16 inch plastic planter.
It has never bared fruit but it's grown from being so tiny to a very tall plant with vines going everywhere.
I finally got three 5 feet tall bamboo sticks and wrapped the vines around them.
Had also started fertilizing with fish water which didn't give me the fruit I wanted, but the vines shot up fast.
I started noticing a putrid odor coming from the pot. The mulch had mold under it.
I removed the mulch and replanted into a 22 inch whiskey barrel, this time I decided to not mulch.
Now I am using Jobe's Organics for fruit trees fertilizer sticks this summer.
The roots have already filled the 22 inch pot. It's become so out of control I had to trim it down a bit. But it's still very long so I wrapped the vines around itself and the bamboo sticks. The tips of a few vines have found itself back into and around the planter.
Still no fruit but long & tall healthy looking plant.

Great tips, really!
Do black raspberries yield as much as red raspberries for the size of the plant. Are black raspberries ever-bearing or do you just get one harvest from them? -
BRILLIANT!!!Thanks for putting this video up. Ray in U.K.
