Tip for Growing Mint in Containers
Tips, Tricks
Mint is a pretty invasive plant. Just ask anyone who has ever grown it in their garden. It can take over pretty quickly. This is why most people recommend growing it solely in containers. When you plant mint in containers, I'd recommend keeping the soil line closer to the top of the container to allow it to grow or make sure that you place the newer roots over the lip of the container. Cool video. I recently started a mint plant from seed and its grown through a vegetative phase. Temperature is dropping and my leaves are growing yet they are less smaller than before. Roots are controlled with only four growing stems. Any pointers..?

I am growing some and when I cut a stem about 1" from the top it stopped growing, know why?
-
The underneath leaves of my plant keep dying. Why is that? And what can I do to help my mint?
-
Yup, super easy to grow from cuttings too, I found some mint runners on a local farm and put them in containers. Easiest to do if you get a piece of stem with roots and leaves on it.

I have no idea why I decided to grow mint from seed! It's my first year starting a little back patio garden and I went a little crazy. I planted the damn stuff in January and it's just now getting to the point where I can nip off a few leaves, but they're all about the size of a dime. I RAGED a bit when I went to the grocery store the other day and saw all these varieties of mints pre-grown and about 30 times bigger than mine for just a few bucks. Never planting mint from seed again!

@ConsciousNYC I never had squirrel problems, but heard that sprinkling cayenne pepper in the soil helps to deter them.
