How often to I water the tomato plants when the weather reaches 105°F to 115°F? Does the plastic pot burn the roots since it is running to the inside of the pot's wall? How much sun do they need when at 9am it already reaches 105°F, do I have to shade them? If so how high on from the top of the plants? Thanks!!!

I bought a 3 plant early girl tomato from costco, can I plant all 3 in one container? If so how big of a container should I get? and if I could do all 3 plants how much water does it need? More because its 3 plants? I've also heard epsom salt and egg shells and coffee grounds used in the soil, is that really all necessary? Thanks for your help

Question, How much of the 50/50 mix per 1/2 cup. Sometimes the potting mix or soil it is in lbs and other times
it is in yards or Cubic feet ? Last time I tried this I got Mircale grow I got the biggest bags Walmart had. One of the " 2 cu ft bags ".
I think this is what I got
" Miracle-Gro Potting Mix is the right mix for success with all types of container plants. Grows Plants Twice as Big!*. Feeds for up to 6 months." Not sure if it said potting mix or potting soil. The plants I have now, I see the little bumps popping up on the vine's. Just like the last time I tried this. I bet IF this does grow tomato's it will have the end rot.
At present it is in a pot like the one in the video. Perhaps not as big. -
Thanks for the info about the Garden Lime. I needed to know how much to add

Loren,
Thanks so much for this wonderful, informative video. I loved watching it. I live in Seattle and am going to give this container tomato garden a go on the patio here. I've watched both your tomato videos and read the comments. It looks like there were a couple of commenters who were curious if fertilizer ever needed to be added. I just wanted to be sure too. Maybe it's not needed if you are using potting soil for the containers? Also, you only have to saturate the tomato plants with water once per week? I'm amazed, as I'd heard that you had to water twice daily. Thanks for your time and look forward to more videos. I hope to post some pictures soon once I really get going here. Will be sharing this video with friends and family as well. -
thanks first time using pots and they are growing like crazy but I just found most have the blossom end rot thanks to your post. I had been adding miracle grow but I guess that was not enough. Can you cut the dark part off the tomatoes and still eat it?

I tried container tomatoes on my balcony 2 yrs ago and they did well, lots of flowers, then, NO Fruit. Is it because my balcony is screened in and they could not be fertilized? If this is the problem, is there a way to get a variety that will bear fruit or a way I can overcome this deficiency?

I'm looking to double a large potter (like the one in this vid) for use with a tomato plant on center then 2-3 green beans plants on the outside of a cage. Do you have any concerns about roots becoming overwhelmed and how deep into the soil do their roots generally go, I'd like to use some type of filler in the bottom of the pot to help with drainage and cut down on the potting soil? Thanks

Awesome thank you. I love tomatoes but I'm moving into an RV so I needed a way to keep them healthy in a container. (: Thanks for the tips

So, I have a few questions about growing tomatoes. Right now it's just my wife and I and we don't go through a ton of tomatoes, but enough to warrant growing them ourselves.
I would should for a fairly small plant, or a few. I don't have a lot of space...literally I do not, my back yard is a huge steep hill. So, my wife has these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001O8C8KW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 18" planters boxes for the deck railing.
Would it be feasible to grow a few small plants in the boxes? We would most definitely support the boxes so that hangers wouldn't break, and would start off with one and split it when it grows large enough. -
Hi i have a question about tomato plants
I am growing some san marzano tomato plants in pots and i started 3-4 weeks ago. Now the plants are about 8-10 cm so i am wondering at this stage how should i look after them.
Are they ok to be at direct sunlight for 6-8 hours per day or this is too much considering the sun here is quite hot specially around midle day . Also how frequently should i water them?
Thank you
