Why not a wheelbarrow full if you can dig your own?

Thank you! As we just moved to a new house and this is our first spring, we realized how terrible soil her, despite the fact that it was a farm......We have rocks in clay soil, what a combination! We will plant blueberries tomorrow :) and just wanted to see a few extra hints :)

are you still growing blueberries?

Great, informative and to the point. Thank you so much! Curious, how much average growth can be expected in a season your new blackberry plants? I just planted some and the packaging didn't say anything about what I can expect for growth. Thank you!

I've planted my blueberries and just have now watched this video. So, I've realized I've done 3 mistakes. I didn't dig big enough hole, I filled it with only peat moss, and mistake #3 is that my bush is sitting kinda lower than the ground level. Is there anything can be done to fix it? Thanks.

looks like my dirt Georgia red clay and my blueberries are doing great! how are yours doing?

I do same but I dig the holes much larger, about 30 inches in diameter and 15 inches deep. I use 2/3 peat and my plants do well. What do you do to maintain acidity over time? Thanks.

Gary, it does stay pretty damp in that area. It might be best to add sand and mulch to the dirt and peat mix. If I follow through and put them there I will try to mound them up somewhat.
Thanks for your quick response.

Oh yes and my soil is made up of a lot of yellow clay. Mine was also stripped when the subdivision was put in. I did request two extra loads of dirt be put in my back yard but that probably only added a quarter inch all around. haha

Thanks Gary,
I just purchased two bluegold blueberry bushes at Home Depot. Not paying 4.00 (smart you) but $15.00 @. My question is, I was going to plant the bushes in the side swale of my property which stays rather wet. My neighbor and I both have sprinkler systems so I'm wondering if this is going to be too wet or if it will be fine as the info. tag said the bushes should have 1 to 2 inches of water per week. Please advise. Thank you.

I am going to pine needle out my berries. That is a good idea.

First off, stay healthy and well. The blueberries should have some sort of growth on them. Do you notice any new wood or budding? If the stems and branches all brown, dry and brittle. The might be dead. IF the roots survived you might see shoots coming up. Im in zone 7 marylands and buds are appearing. You are pretty close. The blueberries I planted were only $4. Great price for the size. I found them at home depot last week.

Pine needles are acidic and make a great mulch.

It works on those yellowing cucumber leaves too.

Epsom salt who knew thanks.

Thanks. Good information.

Sure. Acidity really helps.

will do, thanks for the tip! :-)

yes they grow in containers and produce fruit , but the roots want to grow . so get the biggest container you can afford. the bigger the container the bigger the bush will get.= more fruit. : )
