Thanks for the video. Mound layering is a great way to propagate, fool proof! putting rock or something on the ground over the root area is a nice trick to protect the root system. If you cut "some" Clematis back in the spring, more shoots will come up! Blessings and happy gardening.

Hi! Can I do this now in spring with young plant? Thank you!
-
can you do stem cutting now in September

Respectfully, I think this is not the best way to root the Clematis cuttings. . I think it is better to put the cuttings upside - with just a small wound down in sterilized perlite-sand mixture. It must be covered (with glas or plastic)and with more than 90% humidity inside. I am very interested about your way of production because I have never seen the clematis plant grows from such way of propagation, so if you can please tell me from which bud will start new growth, since abowe the soil there is no any bud, just leave branch.

Always cover your clematis "feet". By feet I men at least 6-8 inches above soil from ANY afternoon sun. I usually find a big flat rock and prop it ip against whatever I'm letting it climb on. I learned this from a very skilled botanist. Really clematis don't like much afternoon sun so try to find a spot with good morning/early afternoon sun to plant. But always find somethin to cover their feet and they will bush out with flowers as well as climb. Thanks for sharing your info. I have several very showy varieties but can't bare to buy more bc they are so expensive $$$$! Now maybe I can get more going in other beds for the years to come!
