Synthetic Ways to Acidify Soil for Rhododenrons, Blueberries, etc
Tips, Tricks
Fertilizers to Lower the pH in acid loving (4.5-5.5) plants like rhododendrons and blueberries. Iron Deficiency (a pale, yellow color between the veins on the leaves) is a sign of the pH being too high. Above a pH of 5.5, these acid loving plants will have a difficult time acquiring iron from the soil. To fix this immediately, iron can be sprayed on the plant but this will not supply iron in the soil. Thus, we need to use acidifying fertilizers like ammonium sulfate, sulfur, and ferrous sulfate.
