Stop Weeding Your Garden!
Tips, Tricks
For all practical purposes, we don't weed our garden. Sure, every now and then we find a weed and pull it, but it happens infrequently enough and requires so little time and effort that it bears little resemblance to what we usually think of as weeding. And we owe it all to mulch. One Yard Revolution is all about growing a lot of food on a little land using sustainable organic methods, while keeping costs and labor at a minimum. Emphasis is placed on improving soil quality with compost, mulch, and compost tea. No store-bought fertilizers, soil amendments, pesticides, compost activators, etc. are used. I found a mulching company that is giving away free mulch, mulch finely shredded some thick pieces not like wood chips that I saw in some of your videos. Do you have an experience using this kind of mulch in you garden bed?

you had me at the title!

Do you find Centipedes in the mulch often?? Millipedes doesn't concern me much.

I would gladly offer my home for you to do a production video to build a beautiful garden. You do wonderful work!! I have a huge yard in Upstate NY, 8 acres overlooking a view so amazing Norman Rockwell couldn't have envisioned it! Not boasting, I just think this is the perfect setting for a garden enthusiast to create a portfolio and spread the word of your hard work. Great tips, as well. I've started beautifying and have maintained the existing gardens with mulch, and the autumn leaves as you suggested. Anyway, consider my offer...the possibilities are endless!

Thanks for the video. You are always very helpful

Will aged pine needles in aged wood chips and leaves make my soil acidic if I mulch with it?

wish it was that easy accessible here. 10 gallons of mulch cost 10 dollars here... I would have to be a millionaire to do my garden...

I had some unknown weed to me that I could not get rid of no matter what I did. Finally in desperation I took some driveway salt that we used in Winter and sparingly spread it out over the line of weeds. The weeds died and I thanked God. Do not use a lot of salt but just enough to cover the bottom of the area where the weeds are. Do not get close to anything that you do not want to see die.

Thanks for enlightening me removing weeds by organic method instead of using roundup method which are chemicals hundred percent. I will try this in my garden, God bless you.

This may be my favorite video of all time. I spend so much time weeding that I need to make a change.

Just found this channel and must say your garden looks amazing ! I have one question with regards to annual compost or fertilizer application on mulched beds. Do you remove mulch temporarily while adding compost or you just don't apply compost at all and keep mulching and using compost teas ?

The breaking down of the cardboard added toxins to your soil because cardboard is held together with glue.
-
Serious question. Just got my first garden. How do you plant the plants you want? Also would this work for perennial flowers? Could I sheet mulch and perhaps cut a hole in the cardboard where i anticipate the flowers coming up?
-
Good tip, however in my experience mulch doesn't stop goutweed! If you've got it, you have to weed diligently!

I am new(ish) to gardening... I have this one area with tenacious weeds... Im thinking about spraying and using your idea with the cardboard and mulch. Have you had any experience with hard to remove vines, invasive weeds and this technique? I am not looking to plant any kind of food just flowers and trees. Thanks!

What's your favorite way to use comfrey in the garden? Do you mulch with it green or dried? Just add it to your compost? Also, have you ever used Ruth Stout's "composting in place" methods and what do you think of them?
