I'm a very new gardener and decided to grow the pickling variety this year. Why can't I get the cucumbers to turn green? They seem to go from very pale green to yellow or orange on me. I'm about to go trim them all off and hope the next batch turns green...

While I do not have any yellowing in my cukes I do have many that have a lot of white along with the green in the skins. Any ideas? Thanks!

Any advice against the squash vine borer bugs? I lost my entire 58 plant cucumber crop this season to them and only got about 30 or so cucumbers before I lost the battle.

What is your pickling recipe? of course if you don't mind sharing

I put up garlic dill pickles every August. I don't think it's hot enough in Seattle to grow them without a greenhouse.

Hi Jeff, I just have a quick question for you about my picklebush plants. Mine are 1 month old and I still have them indoors in small pots, and I was just wondering if I should add some nitrogen to them while they're still inside, or should I wait until they're transplanted outside? Right now they're still in seed starting mix, and are only about 2" tall. I love your videos by the way, they're all very informative! Thanks Jeff

since im growing the bigger 20 to 25cm cucumbers do you think i could just harvest them earlier before they get that big to pickle easier or no? i was growing mine just for the reason to pickle and i bought the best producer and disease resistant but didnt factor in the size

Thanks for the videos. I am newish to gardening. I helped my mother many years ago. Now I want to grow some of my own items. It is definitely going to be a learning experience. I have my daughter interested too. I am hoping to get her motivated to do some on her own.

Very informative video. While I am a backyard organic gardener, I will be adding cucumbers for the very first time this coming grow season. I add a lot of washed fresh seaweed to my flower and vegetable plantings as well as compost, this helps keep the plants super strong. Thanks for all the informative videos.

You said ten plants produces 100-150 Cukes?! I just seeded 20 in a seed starter....my God what have I done lol looks like I'll be canning A LOT of pickles...if they all survive that is...

What brand and where did you get that small wooden trellis. All of the cucumber trellises I found were large metal trellises, but I don't think I need such a big trellis. That small wooden one seems more reasonable. Please answer back! Great video by the way!
