The fishing spot right above the house where you started fishing is got to be a river, not a lake. Shad and bream are usual for rivers even in the early game, and the one you missed in the rain was probably a Catfish, also common for the river in a rainy day.

when i was doing a speedrun of the game i caught the legend in the first spring of that save file

Hey man, Just wanted to say I have really been enjoying your videos and I am hopeful you will make a "lets play" for lack of a better term on all 4 of the new farms. I would also love to see a 1.1 completion of the community centre the "ethical" way hahah. Keep up the great content

You can gain more experience in fishing by getting the treasure chests. Not to mention the additional goods, for all you know, you could get yourself the iridium ring, or a dinosaur egg. ;D
-
since you're doing a fishing playthrough you might want to become friends with linus (atleast 3 hearts) as he gives you a recipe for sashami which is very easy to make(any fish) and very effective use for those lower selling fish you catch, of course you need the kitchen in your house so you can cook first....

LEVEL 10 FISHING = DONT HAVE TO PUT BAIT IN CRABPOTS
sadly i suck at fishing at on my first save im yr 2 summer 2 and im level 2 fishing and everything else is 7 and farming is 10 ;( -
alright I just want to say as someone who uses a ton of crab pots, I haven't found a way to easily harvest many at a time quickly that doesn't accidently pick some up in the process unless you space them out a bit. Having the entire farm filled with crock pots doesn't seem worth it either because with the different qualities and variety you'll probably need to make a ton of trips to the shipping bin even with the largest backpack

"My 2 crab pots have produced me 2 soggy newspapers, so we'll be rich in no time". Hahahaha, too good man!
-
Bug meat from bugs in the mine can be used to craft 5 bait per bug meat.
-
yay riverland farm like i requested!
-
Hey, do you think you could also do one farm with a no mine run?
-
Thanks, I will applied some of your ideas to my farm :D

If you cast your line, then click on the Exclamation Point in the upper right it will open your quest log while you fish. While inside the quest log time will stop, so you can just wait until you get a bite, and click anywhere to simultaneously close the quest log and reel in the fish. Neat trick to fish a ton without using up time so quickly.
-
it just came in my head but you can finish the crab pot bundle so you can get 3 free crab pots !!
-
Use your journal glitches to get more fishies.

I loved this farm.
It's so comfy when compared to the previous hilltop based on capitalism. xD
Also, level 6 fishing on the first episode, by the end of the second you should be level 10, hoping to see the farm full of crabpots.
Also, don't forget to kill bugs when you're in the mine, their meat can be made into baits. -
More please

Here's an interesting thing I discovered looking at the wiki that I've never seen anyone do on various Stardew playthroughs I've watched.
At Lvl 1 Foraging, you can craft a 10 pack of Wild Seed (Sp) from 1 each of the natural spring forage (Daffodil, Dandelion, Leek, Horseradish). They sell for 350g, which is more than double what the ingredients collectively sell for. Or you could plant them to be able to make 2.5 (10)packs; or, just farm free energy. Acquiring 5 crappy sprinklers ought to provide you all the free energy your ever likely to need. I don't know if farming foragibles gives you any farming xp at all, but 48 parsnips or 55 tulips (tulips give better energy than parsnips) will get you farming 2 and the basic sprinkler recipe.
Summer forage, Wild Seed (Su) sell for 550g/10pack; also more than double. I don't know they sale price for fall and winter seeds, but presumably the same logic applies.
Is it worth the time and effort vs. scarfing down Carp? I don't know; especially if you befriend Linus (3Hearts) to get the Sashimi recipe and build a kitchen. It might be worth doing some growing until you can make sashimi.
