SQUASH - FROM SEED to PLATE
Tips, Tricks
In this video I show the best way to start the seeds, then tips on potting the plants up, setting the plants in the garden and finally cooking the harvested squash. Love your videos just found you today keep up the good work!
By the way did the netting help with the squash Vine bug?
I used aluminum foil around the base of mine this year it worked for a while but then the bug just went further up the vine. -
Looks yummy!! Janice

Looks good! I tried something new this year, instead of coating the slices first, I toss the plain slices in a skillet with melted butter, I let them soften up then sprinkle a light layer of cornmeal, flour, salt and pepper and stir. It browns up just right for my liking. I also like to use my spiralizer to make squash and/or zucchini noodles and soften them up in a little butter. I love fresh squash!

What are the white lines in the leaves, my crooked neck has the same lines. I am having issues with blossom end rot too, how do I get rid of that?

I use onions in mine, if your like onions you might try.

I add onions to my mix, if you like onions you might want to try.

"Mmm, that's good" I bet it is. Good video. I really like these complete start to finish style videos. You're a great teacher! God bless!

Love fresh squash. We used to enjoy it fresh and fried up, but when we got overrun she'd slice it, blanch it, and put it in the freezer. It tasted like fresh in January.

LOL next time let it cool off more. :)

excellent video there ! thanks

Those are beautiful squash! I hope your netting works to keep out the borers. If it does work, do you expect the plants to keep producing all the way until frost, or do the plants in your area quit as the season progresses?

I used to do the corn meal and flour mix, now i just use fish fry meal when i fry them. I grilled some the other day over charcoal, put some garlic butter on it and some cajun seasoning. Have to be creative once the squash produces. I get quite a few of the doubles also.

That looks mighty delicious!! I am in Pomona, CA and the heat here is killing my plants. Today we were at 109 F , we are melting ..lol

I'm watching this in the middle of the night, wishing I had some squash to fry up! One of my favorite summertime dishes! I could make a meal just on that!

Here in Michigan squash plants are just starting to flower. Growing the yellow squash for the first time this year. Did your netting keep the bugs away?
