Sowing Perennial Flower seeds - Claire's Allotment - Part 289
Tips, Tricks
Flowers are a very important part of the garden and vegetable plot. They attract all sorts of good bugs into the garden, that either pollinate the flowers, or eat the bad bugs. In this video I'm sowing Aquilegias, Alyssum, Armeria, Delphiniums and Alstroemeria.

Hi Claire .Top show again you should take over Monty Dom on BBC gardeners world .

Claire what you say about perennials is not necessary true as some perennials are short lived such as the aquilegias and hollyhocks. A perennial is something which will last more than two years but not necessary for years and years.

I love aquilejia, currently have Nora Barlows and William Guiness growing in my borders!

Oooh I love Delphiniums. Do they flower in the first year or are they like foxgloves and flower in the second year? I really like the way that seeds come in so many shapes and sizes. Jazz.

I grow Alstroemeria and some are in flower as I speak, the ones I grow are the Ligtu hybrids and some taller sorts which need staking, They seem to like well drained soil with lots of sun, the Ligtu Hybrids flower for months and if you lived near by I would have given you a clump as they do spread a bit, but you don't so I give them to anybody that want's some.
