Southern California Raised Bed Gardening
Tips, Tricks
Our raised bed garden in Southern California. Today is the first day of Fall, September 22, 2012 and I couldn't wait any longer to get my seeds planted. We started with 3 raised planters and have now expanded with a 3 foot by 50 foot in-ground plot. We are growing broccoli, cabbage, carrots, onions, salad mixes, lettuce, romaine, and spinach with seeds from MyPatriotSupply.com. Here is a tour of the garden and some tips for growing in our unique climate.

A good ideal when sowing your seeds is to take your ruler on its side and push down into the dirt and push to the left and then to the right, this will leave a little trench to put your seeds and then just back fill to the correct depth. Hopefully you are using organic seeds and soil, much better all around. Also living in Inland So. Cal. make sure after plants are a couple of inches tall add a layer of bark or anything similar to protect the soil and retain moisture. Great garden, Good Luck.
