Thanks for the tips Bernard. I bought 20 seeds from an Etsy Seller and not one of them was viable. Now that I know how to harvest the seeds I will harvest seeds from my own existing hostas. My back yard faces north and has lots of tree shade - hostas do very well and I love them. Thanks again

Paula: Hostas grow in zones 3 to 9. They go dormant in the winter and require at least 600 hours (28 days) of temps below 40 to be successfully grown. Without this dormant period they will grow weaker over time a die. Some plant and fruit trees require this dormant period. That is why they don't grow peaches in lower Florida and Georgia is best known for growing peaches. Slugs and Voles are their only enemies and some people say squirrels eat them, but I have never had a problem with squirrels.

That information will come in handy for me. I've recently purchased some hostas. I love them but they are hard to find right now because of it still being so hot out they don't keep well in places like Home Depot etc.so they don't get any until the weather cools off. Those that I did manage to get are doing just fine under my shade tree. I'm looking forward to getting more and this info will help me do that. Thank you.

So glad you posted this video. I have hosta that I inherited from the previous owner. Would like to try to grow some from seed? Hope you do a follow-up video about what to do next.
