Saving Rose of Sharon Seeds. Hibiscus syriacus. AKA Rose Mallow.
Tips, Tricks
Thought I would try growing some rose of sharon bushes from seed. We really enjoy the one we have now. The hummingbirds love it. I garden in zone 6b. We have some pretty challenging weather sometimes. I don't claim to be an expert, so you will see my successes and my failures. I really appreciate feedback, so please say hi so I'll know you've dropped by. It will include photos and some additional information that doesn't show up on youtube. https://www.facebook.com/midwestgardener

I have some seed pods that are green, fresh off the plant, I was wondering how do I harvest the seeds from those? Do I wait for them to dry out before getting the seeds out? Or should I try to get them out now?

Cool, they are beautiful flowers

very nice photos. I am very busy renovating the cottage and will be watching more videos at the end of march, my wife will get cross if I sit on my backside watching you tube instead of finishing the cottage ha ha, thanks for sharing.

Neat. My husband is a meanie and won't buy me any roses. He doesn't really want me to grow anything that isn't edible. Can you believe that? lol. Flowers attract all kinds of pollinators and beneficial insects to the garden. I have a few salvia plants that I've been growing for several years. I got the seeds from a trade on some garden forum. I also grew some echinacea last year.. hoping it comes back for me. Thanks for sharing :)

Those were some beautiful photos. I had the rose of Sharon at my old home. I did not realize it could be grown from seed.

Beautiful blooms. When you plant them from seeds, how long does it takes before they are mature enough to develop buds/flower.
