I've always wanted to know what the start means next to your world. What is it?

Pets in Junk Jack are annoying because you can't place a block of where there standing. I was mining once and the pet won't let me put a block on my character and because of that I killed. Also pets don't give you that much stats on your character. They get outclassed by trinkets. I'm not saying that you should stop using pets.
