Runescape Farming Guide - Herbs [HD]
Tips, Tricks
This video shows one way in which you can complete a herb farming run. A herb run involves planting and harvesting only the herb patches at the allotment patch locations. Herbs don't generally give much experience, especially for lower-levelled farmers, but farming herbs is very profitable for almost every herb. At higher levels, the average yield and crop survival is slightly better, so as your farming level increases you should make more money. --------------------------------------------------- It's highly recommended to use supercompost when planting herbs, especially for the more expensive herbs like lantadyme and snapdragon. When using supercompost, roughly 1/8 plants will die (also depends on farming level) but on average you will find that only this many herbs will end up dying. Factoring in all this, herbs are a very quick and easy way for experience and are very profitable. You should use magic secateurs and supercompost at all times when farming any decent herb. These will both increase the amount of herbs you should expect to recieve and supercompost will also increase the likelyhood that your herb plant will survive. On a large time scale average, you should expect to get something like 6-7 herbs per patch (including those patches that die). Assuming that you get 6 herbs per patch for arguments sake, you can work out how much profit you are likely to make from herbs. This, of course, assumes that you have both magic secateurs as well as supercompost for all the patches. Example: Ranarr at time of upload. (Exchange all data for current prices and recalculate for yourself if you need to). Average yield: 6-7 (let's say 6 to be conservative) Ranarr seed price: 3,223 Ranarr herb price: 2,938 Supercompost: 976 Total teleport costs: 1,032 (2 fire runes, 2 law runes and camelot teletab) Total profit = 5*(Average yield*herb price - seed price - supercompost price) - Teleport costs Total profit = 5*(6*2,938 - 3,223 - 976) - 1,032 Total profit = 5*15,620 - 1,032 Total profit = 66,113 If the total profit value is lower than around 50k, you're better off using a different herb if possible. Sometimes it is also important to take into account the experience that you get from the herbs as well. You might make 20% more profit from one herb compared to another, but you might get half the experience. You should make a personal judgement choice as to whether you prefer more money or more experience in this kind of situation. --------------------------------------------------- To plant a herb, you will need 1 seed per patch (so 5 in total for the 5 patches). Here is a list of the different herbs with the profit amounts at the time of upload: (Note: these should only be used as a guide! Prices change often!) Guam - Level 9 Farming (-1,747), Marrentill - Level 14 Farming (-4,962), Tarromin - Level 19 Farming (+4,128), Harralander - Level 26 Farming (-317), *Ranarr - Level 32 Farming (+66,113), Spirit Weed - Level 36 Farming (+138,343), *Toadflax - Level 38 Farming (+107,663), Irit - Level 44 Farming (+48,733), Wergali - Level 46 Farming (+74,383), *Avantoe - Level 50 Farming (+82,148), Kwuarm - Level 56 Farming (+42,508), *Snapdragon - Level 62 Farming (+95,588), Cadantine - Level 67 Farming (+7,433), *Lantadyme - Level 73 Farming (+49,598), Dwarf Weed - Level 79 Farming (+17,028), Torstol - Level 85 Farming (-450,912). *- Asterisk indicates very commonly planted. These herbs will generally hold their price much better than others as they are more stable (usually). As a basic rule, you should plant the best possible herb that you can in order to get the most experience. If you are planting for profit, use the above formula to work out which herb will give you the greatest profit. You can't pay the master farmers to protect your herb patches for you. Herb patches can only be done by you and you will have to just accept that sometimes they will die. --------------------------------------------------- To get to each patch, there are some ways to go about it: Falador: 1) Explorer's Ring 3/4 cabbage-port (req. Lumbridge medium tasks). 2) Glory amulet teleport to Draynor Village. 3) Falador teleport. Trollheim (optional): 1) Trollheim teleport (req. Eadgar's Ruse). 2) Trollheim teletab (req. Love Story). 3) Games necklace teleport to Burthorpe. Port Phasmatys: 1) Ectophial to Port Phastmatys (req. Ghosts Ahoy!). 2) Canifis teleport (req. Desert Treasure and 55 Magic). 3) Slayer ring to Slayer Tower. Ardougne: 1) Ardougne Cloak 2/3/4 farm teleport (req. Ardougne medium tasks). 2) Skills necklace to Fishing Guild. 3) Ardougne teleport. Catherby: 1) Camelot teleport. 2) Catherby teleport (req. Lunar Diplomacy and 87 Magic). --------------------------------------------------- Rate and Comment please, all your feedback is much appreciated. Subscribe for future Runescape videos. Great guide thanks
-
@MainerTheMan Because people will usually be doing more than 1 run per day, only people with the elite cloak can use it on demand. For this reason, a skills necklace is a, basically, unlimited source of teleports.

@MrGowrestler Prices always fluctuate but right now toadflax is one of the best choices.

For best profit you should plant torstol seeds using juju farming pots + magic secateurs + supercompost. Also you need scroll of life from dungeoneering. It is easy to make 1m+ profit per farm run depending on seed and herb prices.

@johny11150 Most of the items are really easy to get, but I assume the ones you need are magic secateurs and the trollheim teleport and the trollheim patch quest. I'd recommend completing both Eadgar's Ruse and My Arm's Big Adventure for the trollheim patch as it is immune to disease so it is guarantee profit for most herbs. Magic secateurs aren't required, but will increase the likelyhood of getting more herbs by 10%. I recommend doing these quests and unlocking these things.
