oooh, love that pale green tea cup

You put your tincture by the window. I thought it had to be in a dark place and needed plastic on top so it would not rust? Does it really matter or not. thanks for your help.

you mention harvesting roots in fall but when do you harvest leaves and flowers?
-
so I shake it every day for 4 -6 weeks?

I'm so happy I found this! I've been studying herbs with her book and such :) I really feel at peace researching herbs!

Help! Last month I made Echinacea tincture for the first time. When it was ready to decant the liquid it was a cloudy, brown color - similar to latte. Straining it through coffee filters cleared up the cloudiness, but the remaining liquid burned my mouth. For several hours afterwards sweet things (like apples etc.) tasted extremely salty. What went wrong?

Thanks Rosemary! I have your books and I'm a huge fan. You are such a wealth of knowledge. I know many of us appreciate how you share that knowledge, too! You are a real asset to your profession!

how helpful thank you

I heard you mention that you can use apple cider vinegar to make the tincture, especially for children. Do you use it the same way you would use the alcohol, and does it last as long as the alcohol based one?

Great information, thanks!
You can find the amber glass bottles online: http://amzn.to/1IqbSRB -
Do the plant parts have to be dried before making the tincture or can you use fresh parts?
-
How long would you be able to use this tincture before it expires?

I just ordered this book and several other of Rosemary's books. I can't wait to get them!!! I have a sensitivity to many medications that my doctor tries to give me. This natural route is good for me and has been working fine for me with no problems so far. I have so much to learn! :-)

Great book! I read it cover to cover and now I am picking out what I want to grow!

pt-2 some people take the herb and distil it for the essential oils first then they dry the herb and tincture it with 98 % alcohol. they put the herb/alcohol in a warm sand bath for 40 days .then after the 40 days are up they separate the liquid from the solid again and now they burn the herb until its white.then after doing an "alchemical trick" they reintroduce all 3 elements -then back into a sand bath and then they make a herbal stone.like a philosopher stone but its herbal.
-
rosemary is 100 % right with making this tincture ,but she forgot to say that after straining your herb, separating the liquid from the solid -you could reuse that herb -let it dry and then once dried you could reuse it in oil.it wont be as strong as the alcohol tincture but it will have medicinal properties of the herb.
