Rooting Begonia Cuttings Indoors- Great Houseplant
Tips, Tricks
Visit my gardening blog at http://picketfencegreenhouse.info Rooting Begonia Cuttings Indoors..Found out it is a Lucerna Angel Wing Begonia One plant that keeps on giving is this begonia plant that was given to me a few years ago.. I have been able to share with a few people and also am able to root more whenever I choose.. It is a fun plant with speckled leaves and reddish pink flowers.. The main plant has been in my south facing window all winter and the cuttings were put in my north facing window.. Once the plant becomes dead in the center with no leaves it is always a good time to cut off and root those cuttings and let the original plant rejuvenate back into a beautiful plant.. #dianemummgardenvideos

You didn't talk about the water. Is it just plane water without anything in it? And it looks like the mother plant is in a container without drainage. Does it work well or is there drainage in it?

That looks like the 'Angel winged begonia, 'Lucerna' . ..If it is, and you put the original plant in a sunny window, it'll eventually get big clumps of coral coloured flowers on it. My grandmother had one, and gave me a cutting from it. I had it until the first few years I was married, but it died when we had to go away for a few days (funeral). .. I miss that plant. It was gorgeous, and one of the first plants I ever had from my grandmother, that got me hooked on gardening. She was very proud of the beautiful clusters of flowers and pretty spotted leaves. ..it's a great plant in every way. ..rooting easy, like you said. I don't even remember it getting bothered by pests, either. Very nice!

The full name of this begonia is Corallina De Lucerna, and it is over two hundred years old, having been passed down as cuttings from friend to friend and mother to daughter for all that time. It's a real heirloom plant. If you plant it into an 8 to 12 inch pot, it will get up to 7 feet tall, and new shoots will come up from the ground every spring, just like a rambler rose. Then you can cut down all the old leggy stems and root them for your friends.

Hello, thanks for your video! My Angelwing is starting to become too large, roughly 6 feet across. I'm going to trim some off and root them like you showed.
Maybe you can also help shed some light on my issue. My new leaves are no longer turning red underneath. It's otherwise a very healthy plant. Any idea what could be the cause? -
Hi there! Just wondering if you can share a little more on this Angel Wing Begonia? Like what's the next step and how to care for them during the propagation and potting? Thanks so much for all your tips!

Diane, I love your houseplants videos in particular! They are so helpful. How long does it take for cuttings in water to settle in soil when they are potted? Roots in water normally look a little different from those rooted in soil to me, so I never tried...

Diane: There are a lot of plants that you can do this with and gain a lot of new free plants for friends and your own garden. Nice how to video, but yours always are! Glad to see a new video from you. Bernard

Diane, I tried your Jack in the Pulpit and Canna seed saving, then the paper towel method after wintering them in the fridge. All sprouted and are growing. Thanks for the videos.
