Hello! Hope you can give me some advice on my birds of paradise plant. Ive had it for 6 months now, it was doing great until i went on vacation and left it to my husbands care. Mine is an indoor plant. There are 4 plants (stalks?) in one pot. One of the middle plants, which has about 6 leaves, has 3 leaves which are curling and turning brown on the edges towards the inside of the leaf. It started off with 1 leaf turning brown, now i have 3. One of them is a new leaf that sprouted just a few months ago. It was so beautiful and green and healthy and now its turning brown. These leaves are the tallest ones of the plant, which im guessing is the oldest plant of the pot. The other leaves of the other stalks in the same pot dont have the same problem (yet). Its really just this one stalk (is that the right word?). I water it about once a week or a week and 3 days depending on the soils dryness to the touch, i havent been giving it fertilizer for months now (could this be it?), I use regular tap water (i live in NYC), its currently by the window where it gets a 3-4 hours of sunlight a day.
Also, I have another birds of paradise just 10 feet from the one with problems, this one is doing great, no browning on the leaves, gets the same amount of water, sunlight and care.
They are identical pot size, although the first one has bigger and taller leaves. PLEASE HELP! No idea what im doing wrong and would hate for it to get any worse! -
OMG....How old is the plant ? I have 2 " babies" grown from seeds Dec 2015 :-) as a houseplant. Been told up to 6-7 years before they flower ( from seeds )

Hi Rachel I clicked on this video hoping to find out how to split and separate big bunches of bird of paradise so I can plant new plants in different areas of the gardern. I also have a few monster plants I want to relocate if possible. do you know the best way to go about this?

Hello Rachel. Very useful video thank you! How old is your B.O.P? I've been told they only seem to flower after five+ years and prefer to be pot bound, any thoughts on this?
-
would one be able to prune the roots to keep it in a smaller pot?
-
They grow beautifully in my garden in Zimbabwe...

Always amazing to see how well you grow Tropicals in Ireland!! ... Thanks for inspiring and encouraging us by sharing all your hard work I killed my potted Strelitzia by overwatering a few yrs back. Think i'll give it another try. ;))

these plants like to be in the ground but dont think they will like Ireland weather. They do great in SA weather though😄 looks healthy though

Do we need to consider saving our mussel shells for you? We won't mind. ;)
