I like this guy's nerdy penicillin joke. I bet not many people know penicillin comes from a type of mold.
-
How many inches that Ipad behind you is?
-
just change water daily? Just grow six inches then die? I think ill spend the 1.50 on a new head of romaine instead of the water bill for one bite
-
AAA anyone here just wanting to do this just to feed there bearded dragon because there to lazy to go to the store?because I am#LettuceLife

I am currently doing this with green onions in a glass. They are growing about half an inch a day. I saw it on a video for kitchen "hacks"-formerly known as "tips".

Their stupid HUGE effing banner at the bottom is very annoying. What happened to a tiny icon in the lower corners? Now it seems every video I come across from a news channel has a HUGE banner covering up what they're trying to show!

stop complaining start doing some thing as a hobby

The obvious question is: Will it be able to grow to maturity. And the obvious answer is no.
-
you mean like...plants really can regrow? saaay whaaaatt
-
I know that lettuce is generally not all that nutrient-rich, but does regrowing lettuce without soil further minimize the nutritional value?
-
I just discovered this today, if I mineralize the water and not tap water with the regrowth reap any benefits, also I noticed the root is showing brown colouring so what do you do or does it replenish itself
-
wowww I never know to do this, thanks for this video..can wait to try it.

she said whattttt...

IT IS a April Fools joke! It needs to be put into soil for continued growth. Otherwise, it will just sprout and stall. And the nutrients will be diluted by the water that's absorbed by the lettuce. So it will taste more watered down. Same thing happens to green onions in water. The word "regrow" here is misleading and is causing mass confusion in the comments.

I tried it on water, and it did sprout fast but since theres no nutrients it will stall at a certain point and it will separate from the bigger stem, and it gets real nasty goeey looking, smelly also, I did the same thing but in my garden, it took a little longer but had a full head of lettuce maybe 10-15 inches long, just keep cutting what you need and the rest will grow out again.
-
regrowing lettuce makes a good science project but there is no nutrients and water so your letters won't be nutritious as it was to begin with

Great idea!

My grandmother taught me this. Boy the amount of important survival, money and energy saving information we've lost in only 2-3 generations amazes me. We don't need enormous fridges. I only have a mini fridge for defrosting meat and storing cheese, milk, cold drinks and leftover food. Invest in a good (NON FROST FREE) deep freeze instead of a giant fridge!

OMG, just wait until monsanto gets their evil greedy paws on this, they will sue you for growing your own veggies. Monsanto has to be the evilist business I have ever seen.

I'm currently doing this with Iceberg. So it's not "just" romaine.
