I neither eat bacon (any longer) nor support the raising of pigs. Most have their tails docked upon birth and their needle (baby) teeth removed. These are livestock animals (not Potbellies), and they can grow to 2000 pounds. But it's more profitable (in terms of the expense of raising vs. the money gained through slaughter) to process them at 6 months.
Even livestock pigs are intelligent and highly emotionally sensitive (they get depressed when a herd leader--even a human one--or a brother or sister is removed). And they're clean, preferring to poop far away from their sleeping quarters.
These pigs have a better life (though short) than most farm animals. Notice that they have their tails! Also, they're able to walk on real earth and to socialize with each other. (I infer that they also were permitted to have contact with their mother--who is separated from her young by iron bars in the pig farming industry). -
What's up bro I love your setup! I just started raising my own pigs and started my own YouTube channel maybe you can check out my vids and give me some positive feed back and advise. My plan is to start breeding. thanks!

if people do not give their pigs any medicine, how do they know they do not have worms.

Great that you are doing your own food and stuff. But I don't think I can do it :(((. After I raised them, I don't think I would be able to butchering them :(((((((((. Although I LOVE Bacon and don't get me wrong, they are our food source, regardless what People say. But the butchering part I don't think I would be able to handle it. Kudos to you for doing it, at least you know what you are eating :))))

Of course they were excited to see you. Pigs are highly intelligent loving creatures. How could you still kill them after raising them? I mean bacon is temporary but a friendship is a lifetime.
