Propagating Jade Plant Without Soil
Tips, Tricks
Jade plants are one of the easiest plants to propagate. You can do this even without soil. In this video, you will see how easily this can be done. My Indoor Setup: https://plus.google.com/118382364204627409312/posts/5Cr9CWGsoDG

i can say that i put a broken off piece of jade plant i found on the ground on the bar area above my sink. i was shocked that after a few weeks, there were roots growing from the large piece and small leaves from the small piece. this was before i saw this video. i planted it up b/c i figured it deserved to live.

What kind of soil did you use to start the plants? Also I tried this but all my leaves dried up--they turned brown then black and shrivelled up. I kept the leaves in a plastic bowl with a container of water on a kitchen table where they got sunlight all day. Any idea what I did wrong so I can try it again and maybe get it to work?

Yer I don't think think the water did much
I have a jade plant and i took a leaf from it ages ago and I forgot about it and left it on my window ledge and it has grown a little jade tree
Cool idea though -
thank you for this awesome video!

the jade plant stores water inside the leaf. in case the leaf fall off, it will use the water that it stored for rooting. but when the root about to set, it should find a medium to hold on and get supply in the future, or it will die. but the most important part is to not let it get wet or cold for a long time. it will survive easily..

Hi Khang Starr,
I bought a Jasmine plant from home depot last spring, I left it in the pot it was sold in and was just watering daily (sometimes i forget!), but its dying :(.
Do you think its possible to sustain a jasmine and have it healthy in a Kratky system? I want it to have all the nutrients and water it needs and only have to refill the container once in a while. Is this reasonable? Thanks for the videos too! -
Hii, I just got a jade plant yesterday, I got a question, do I wait 10 days before watering it???

Hi Khang, which one of your videos shows your light setup? I remember seeing it but can't find it now. Thanks!

Maybe this is why I had a large success rate on my first try.
I put all my cuttings in 5 separate pots on my fish tank, and I had somewhat a 80% success rate, which you know of. Also, my cuttings have grown and the leafs I propagated them with, have died and fell off all of the cuttings so far. I have 4 cuttings with roots, but no plantlets yet, which is strange. I tested fertilizer on the second cutting to grow a little plantlet, and it has grown huge, it's almost like a adult plant, did you use any fertilizer? -
Hi Khang, when I was a little, I used to put the jade leaf inside the book. The root grown from the leaf.

Nice experiment Khang. Thanks.
