What type of soil are you putting those cuttings in? also, can this work for us poor souls that live in the east coast, NY area? Do I leave it outside like you show it? Maybe you can do it in a milder temp area, if that is where u live?

Love your step by step instructions. I have two bougainvillea's that have blossomed so much, they need to be propagated correctly. Thanks for your site!!!

Question: How often do you need to water once you have it under the trash bag?
-
We live in Pretoria East South Africa, our plot is covered with Bougainvillea, we have had to cut many down, but they just shoot up again, I have done the cuttings, but straight from cutting, added the growth hormone, and they are growing wild.. no need to plant in plastic pot first

I tried 4 times to to grow them from cuttings only one worked. it took on bugs and I sprayed it with off and killed it (damit) so THIS time I stripped the bark off the bottom 1 inch and used a blade and cut straight through to splay the edge of the stem and that worked to grow better roots. I was reading about cuttings for Christmas trees and one said to strip the bark about 2 inches and literally "smash" it then put it in soil. that's where I got the idea. and it worked I just cut through it vertically 3 times. I have about 20 leaves now and it's doing ok sitting outside in a small clay pot. I'm going to use it for a Bonsai.

hi joe, for the trash bag, do i need to make a hole on it or not? how about the air inside?
-
How long are the cuttings and how many inches do you put into the soil? Do you ever take the bag off and give it more water? I've been trying this method on other plants and I think I might be over watering them.

I haven't tried planting using the wooding powder. May I know its purpose Jose Blanco?
