Project Zomboid Tutorial | First 24 Hours
Tips, Tricks
Let's play Project Zomboid Build 33! Project Zomboid has been updated for Build 33 featuring new traits, 3D sound system, randomized building states, and much more. Project Zomboid is a isometric zombie survival game. It attempts to capture the feeling of actually surviving in a world taken over by zombies. It is currently in Build 33 of the Alpha and is constantly changing and expanding. Game Website: http://www.projectzomboid.com/ Developer Forums: http://theindiestone.com/forums/ New Features In Build 33 Include: FMOD: New sound engine! Tons of new sounds and ambient! (fridge buzz, water drip, birds...) New random music algorythm: some weird music will start at night to give a creepy ambient! Proper 3D sound! Added an ambient volume slider in the option. New randomized buildings: Some buildings will now be burnt, looted or already barricaded. Some will have specific professions loots Made world more alive, some windows/inside door will be open. New main menu! Allowing to custom your difficulty settings easier. You can choose a difficulty for the world/zombie and then for your starter/character. (need more balancing) Choose from "The First Day" to "6 Months After the Apocalypse" (hard early game), and don't forget our hardcore Survival (hard late game!) Then select if your character will start with some bonuses, such as items or xp multiplier! Radio/TV from Turbo and Will! (I'm sure they'll write more here soon ;)) Also from Turbo: moveable furnitures! New trait: herbalist With this trait you can find medicinal herbs by foraging. They'll help you fixing your broken bones, your stomach disease, etc. Some will require to be transformed in poultice with a mortar and a pilon! Few more stuff including bug fixing (such as crafting UI crash...), more info there tomorrow as I'm finishing another build... :P Balanced zombies grouping a bit, start game should be way more easier (no zombies thumping at your door when you spawn, less zombies around you, etc...) you know this game can be pretty bullshit sometimes. Today I just hoped over a fence into some trees then immediately got bitten, with absolutely no time to react. I guess it IS realistic though, and at least I locked myself up in a shed and left all my loot for my next character outside the door. Fml I lost all my skills though /:

Is this the only tutorial C. Archer ever made? I'm trying to find a good project zomboid guide and this is the best one ive seen so far, but its only the basics and id really like to watch a series where every single choice and desition is explained to the viewer so they can learn more. Im stuck at a point where i can survive survival, but dont know what to really do, what to build, what to look for, how and when to use guns.

My guy got very depressed, so I locked myself in a room, got shitfaced, and read a lot of books.
Not the best move, but I am learning dammit. -
Just got the game thank you for this

hey i have a question! i have rifle with 5 bullets reloaded and ready and also a pistol with 15 bullets in mag but when i want to shot it doesn't work, like my guns are empty, what should i do?

well i've been trying this game, got killed on day 5 probably because bandage gone bad that lead to infection got bleed while trying hop on on the broken window, I'm no expert at this one but as far as i can tell this game is rich, well not graphically rich but there is just tons of thing can get you killed and lotsa things to do, now I'm doing my 2nd try and get to day 20 i think but seems there is no one else but me in the game world which kinda lacking, i mean world is end and shit but there is no looters no army deserters, rogue and human touch it's just don't make sense for particular reason you alive but everyone else dead unless you're immune or some sort, i mean reality say whats the point living alone can't get laid and shit. but despite my grumble the gameplay is rich enuf that i worry more whats my next meal is? but still many improvement to implement i guess

Glad to see you doing more normal zomboid stuff, zomboid definitely need more videos like this one to explain the basics to new players. I've got a few things to say about this tutorial video since this is your first one. Just to point out a few of the things you've missed explaining about and can possibly include in future videos.
-Controls: Although you did explain a few of the controls in the beginning and a few more towards the end, you did miss a few things like the loot all button, the Time control buttons, the default layout of the keys, and finally the equip weapons button, like 1 for blunt weapons and 2 for guns, 3 for stabby stabby and F for light. Yes, you can just look up the controls in the options menu but some new players regretfully choose to ignore that fact.
-Easy mode: Why on earth was there so much loot everywhere? You even chose to play a hardcore character on a two weeks after setting. I haven't played zomboid since build 29 but I don't remember ever seeing a fridge that stacked before :P
If you wanted to play "easy mode" thinking that most new players would choose this option when first starting out..., you might be right. But that doesn't mean you should base your tutorial series on that. If I was a new player and wanted to try the game, I'd be more impressed by your video if you talked about surviving 24 hours on at least normal or rare loot difficulty setting. Its too easy to survive and find good stuff in the "abundant" loot setting. Your safety for the first day is practically guaranteed once you've found the basics of storage, defence, water, and food. All that's left is to make a good safehouse and build on it, or just hopping buildings until you find one you really like. Having multiple safe houses is not a bad idea, provided you've found enough food and water to fill them while ensuring that perishable foods can remain long enough to matter.
-Night fall: While you did explain enough about the basics to help the new player start out, you didn't even complete the first day and failed to talk about how everything works in the dark. The one house you got into after your starting house had its doors unlocked and no zombies inside to clear out, And of course you never tripped an alarm. And again, due to the difficulty setting, there were no hordes of zombies anywhere near your area and no groups of zombies you had to sneak past. I remember my first game where the first house I broke into got overrun by zombies because I smashed the glass thinking that was the only way to get in. In your case I don't think a single zombie would have cared if you started firing a shotgun and pressed Q over and over. Not that its a bad thing, you are very lucky to have a spawn like that, but for the sake of a tutorial it would be better if you had a few zombies to sneak around.
-Long term goals: As a Person who loves to hoard EVERYTHING in any inventory based game I play, I do remember the amount of trouble I had to go through In the beginning because of this obsession of mine. Due to not knowing which Items are useful both for the moment and for the future, I used to grab almost Anything and everything I saw during my first few lives in muldraugh. Everything, from pencil and note pads, to watches and tote bags, I would take with me and store it at a safe house, always ensuring that I had at least a few items of each type in my drawers. It was only later that I discovered you don't actually need stuff like razors and boxes of staples and that jewellery has no real purpose in a zombie apocalypse. Perhaps you should do a video on stuff like what you should and shouldn't grab and store at your safehouses and what you can do to store perishable foods for longer times by either cooking, or storing in a fridge. In case of cooking, what kinds of pots and pans you should keep an open slot for. What kind of items are rare and are necessary for late game, stuff like which books are important, which seeds to keep, how to take care of excess loot by storing them in bags and keeping them in a nearby house to pick up later. Some tips like that.
Wow, Thats a lot of text. It seems I've gone a bit over board ^~^ Hope it helps with your next videos. Please post another LP series soon. Hopefully on a new map or with some mods to make it spicy. Until next time! -
