Poor man way to plant clover... to help #SaveOurBees, will it work?
Tips, Tricks
Don't buy clover seed! Here is how you get seed http://www.facebook.com/groups/japanbeekeeping/doc/363947710325623/ Seeds are extreemly expensive in Japan. I am seeing if I can get clover to seed by just spreading the pollinated flowers that become seeds.... if this works then I can very quickly seed my fledgling Japanese river bank bee farm with clover! Do you think it will work?

The material you collected has no viable seed in it. It was all flowers. If you wish to do this, wait until the seedheads have been brown (dead looking) for at least a couple of weeks. Scout the fields out ahead of time, so you know where to go collect. Better yet, go to your local feed/seed store and purchase clover seed of adapted species and cultivars for your area. For some you can purchase just a pound or two. Make sure it has been preinoculated with proper rhizobial bacteria so that you get proper nitrogen fixation. And take soil tests to see if any nutrients are in short supply and if your pH needs adjusting. You can't get established just by collecting clover flowers.

I wonder if this would work better if you waited for the blooms to turn brown? Later

My guess is that those haven't gone to seeds yet... you have to wait for them to stop blooming..

I guess I have to ask but did this work out for you and did the clover grow for you?

My feed store sells it for $3 a pound. A little goes a long way!

you can buy 1lbs bags of clover online, for your climate, germinated and ready to go for like $14 http://www.hancockseed.com/application-area-239/wildlife-food-plot-seed-297/wildlife-seed-blends-305/hancock-s-fall-winter-food-plot-seed-mix-5-lb-bag-436.html

I doubt the seed would develop it enough to germinate, you can do it like this but the seed has to be at least hard
