Planting Vegetables In Early March (Zone 4B)
Tips, Tricks
Planting cabbage, kohlrabi, leeks, onions, and broccoli in early March, in zone 4B. This is an experiment to see if I can plant this early in the spring, see if the row cover offers enough protection from the elements, and harvest cabbage before June 1.

I will certainly keep you updated. The cabbage is growing well, and is already 6-8 inches tall. It had a bit of transplant shock and some of the leaves turned yellow, so planting bare root in the spring isn't the best idea. We had a couple of nights in the low teens and the cabbage was frosted but didn't freeze. The chickens got into the broccoli and kohlrabi so I had to replant those.

I would love to see an update on this. It would be great to get a harvest before June with these cold weather veggie. I live in the 4B/5A zone line so I'm interested in how this turns out. I see no reason why they wouldn't grow.
