Planting & Supporting Runner Beans
Tips, Tricks
How to plant and support runner bean plants. Pea and bean plants are climbing plants and need supports as they grow, here Andrew demonstrates how to build a wigwam support structure using bamboo canes. Bamboo canes, like willow rods, are an inexpensive and easy way of building garden structures of any size. Plant runner beans in a sheltered spot to encourage pollinating insects. They grow well in partial shade. Supports should be put in place before transplanting your seedlings, about 2.2metres high should be sufficient. I was so happy to see this video from you! Quickcrop is one of my favorite channels on youtube. Furthermore, I have two bean teepees in the garden right now. We are growing Emerite pole beans this year. This is my second attempt because last year, the squirrels ate all of my seedlings. This year, the slugs are giving the leaves a lace appearance. I currently have it under control with diatomaceous earth. Would you please give us an update once the poles are full and ready for harvest?

Hi, Great episode. I planted my cobra french beans every 10-12inch this year due to the bed size we will see how it will go. Also had some problems with slugs after have rains lately but in general they seems to prefer lettuce and young brassica ;)

Always amazed at how beautiful, rich and healthy your soil is. Your vegetables most certainly thank you for it. I've been working my sandy soil in Florida for over two years now and still have a few more before i will ever see soil to the likes of yours. Keep up the good work and thanks for your videos.
