Planting Asparagus Seeds In The Fall. Little Red Berries.
Tips, Tricks
Just for the heck of it, I decided to stick some asparagus seeds in the ground this fall. Don't know if they will come up or not, but thought it might be fun to try. I garden in zone 6b. We have some pretty challenging weather sometimes. I don't claim to be an expert, so you will see my successes and my failures. I really appreciate feedback, so please say hi so I'll know you've dropped by. It will include photos and some additional information that doesn't show up on youtube. https://www.facebook.com/midwestgardener

I was thinking about doing this myself in the fall but didn't (don't know why really). I think I'll give it a go if yours produces. I have a pretty nice bed but you can always expand!

Will be interesting to see what grows. I think I would have taken some seeds out of the red berry outside bits. I want to wish you a very merry Xmas and a prosperous and healthy 2016 and great growing.

I like to do experiments like this, you never know what is going to happen :) I would like to start asparagus myself at some point.

Just discovered your channel! Glad I did :) Hope the asparagus seeds come up in the spring. It is fun to experiment in the garden. I have berries on my asparagus and would like to grow some new plants from them, but never thought of trying it.

Good luck Jim, did you sow any without the outer berry on? I wonder if they are the sort of seed that needs to be separated from the berry flesh to germinate? I'll be interested to see what happens.

Brilliant buddy. I've got red berries on my asparagus right now. Noticed them last year too. You've inspired me to do something with them. First, gotta collect them tomorrow. No need to waste a chance to experiment. Thanks.
