Do you have any recommendations on where to purchase the asparagus crowns? According to the Michigan Bulb Company website, it doesn't even recognize "asparagus" in it's search function. :(

asparagus really should be planted on a ridge with the roots trailing both sides :)

Is that the lake in the background?

hey, quick question can u grow asparagus from asparagus ?

Hi, Luke! I am a beginner and just ordered some asparagus seeds from Baker Creek. I live in TN, and though we are experiencing some pretty cold night temps right now, I figure it's too late to start asparagus from seed? If so, should I plant in fall or winter of this year? Wish I had thought to get those crowns instead of seeds, but I really have no idea what I'm doing. I just love gardening now and want to grow everything. lol :) Thanks for all your great videos. They have been a big help and motivation!!

I watched this video and the one of you planting the asparagus seedlings. I thought in the other video you mentioned not to bury the crown, but it looked like you buried it in this one. I planted mine today and wanted to make sure I did it right. Any advice would be very appreciated.

Looks great man and I like your choice of team spirit there as well. In the process of building a few new raised beds for myself over here, can't wait to get planting!

Nice looking bed and soil is fantastic. Good luck withe Asparagus In two years you will begin to reap Asparagus for at least 15 years.

I'd love to try planting asparagus, but I'm pretty sure the crowns would have to be purchased online and shipped. Seeing as how I live in Hawaii, shipping here can take up to 1-2 weeks...I'm worried whatever I order would just die in the shipment. And express shipping is expensive. :( I did enjoy this video though...I wish I could do the same in our garden.

Another great video, Luke! I love asparagus and inherited a very productive (although in need of maintenance) asparagus bed, and have been working on expanding it each year. We've got a fair amount of "wild" asparagus around the island that has escaped from old gardens and that's where most of my new crowns come from. Most of the farmers are more than willing to let me have it when I ask, because they often don't even know it's growing along their fence lines. It's great.

IS that 1year grade asparagus roots???

I just did the same project. Built a perennial garden bed 7x21 for the same reason as you. Put my asparagus in 2 days ago. I understand the carpentry thing. I wouldn't want to show my build either but if I did it again it would go smoother. I got a great deal on some garden soil so I just dumped it in (after sifting). Probably wasteful. While these raised beds are simple they are a lot of work to set up.

Great update Luke
