Planting Arborvitae Trees UPDATED 2015
-
Do you do anything in the winter to protect the trees?
-
How far apart (on center) did you plant them? Were they about 6' when in the ground??
-
How did they do? Did they all survive? Did you find the best watering schedule/gph?
-
The trees haven't gotten much taller but have filled in nicely. But I expect this year they will take off. We planted 7 Arborvitae on the other side of the house and it seems like they grew very fast to around 15 ft. and now always filled with birds. The Arborvitae is the favorite plant of the evergreen bagworm so google bagworm and you will know what it looks like and what to spray to get rid of it. Hopefully we never get them but I see them on trees in Davenport.

Great! Thanks for responding quickly. I'm planting 55 emerald greens tomorrow for a nice natural privacy screen. How tall have your trees gotten? Again thanks for the info.

This hose is 1/2" emitter tubing from Dripworks the number is DFET361-250 which is 250' of tubing. I'm not sure if they still sell 250' but I do know they sell 500' which is DFET361-500 This tubing is long lasting (8 plus years) and it has the emitters built into the tubing. All trees are still living and look great. The 500' 1/2" emitter tubing is $93 Guaranteed all these trees would not have survived last years drought without the tubing.

Good video. I just have a question. Did you buy the hose or make it yourself?

We bought these trees on sale at Menards in Davenport Iowa. They were $25 with a $5 rebate for each tree so we paid $20 per tree. A good price
