wonder what happened to the dwarf Peachtree
-
no advantage planting dwarf trees - look at the quality trees from a proper
grower -- most cherries are dwarf 3 - 5 meter - using colt or gisela all say dwarf or
dwarfing ( don't get dwarf ( ornamental ) trees ) -
I planted dwarf Jonathan apple and got it flowering, however planting year it got no fruit, but after it got lots of edible apples!

you can never have too many peaches! you also might want to look up some vids on how to plant a tree. you'd need more then you've done to get a healthy tree.

Know any nurseries that ship fruit trees to Canada?

I've had a meyer lemon for a few years. It was ready to produce immediately.
I fell in love with honeycrisp apples a couple of years ago. We juice with them as well as eat them DAILY, but they cost 3X as much as other apples. As a result, I ordered a tree that arrived last month (since APPARENTLY, I've become that "old corner-house garden lady" that we always laughed at, smh). You probably don't want to prune for the first couple years or so, and I'm under the impression that ur apple will need a little extra annual care (oils&such) as well as thinning bunches (breaking off all the apple starts in a bunch except the healthiest ONE), and perhaps also bagging them as proactive measure against codling moth (which is the apple's worst enemy)... I don't care tho'. If u've ever tasted a honecrisp apple, you understand....//addicted. I've even bonded with random people at the apples area of produce section-- which says TONS because I never talk to people I don't know (&therefore likely won't like) in public.
I think I'll also have to wait a year or two (bare root), but again, they cost SEVERAL TIMES MORE than other apples. Given our addiction to them, it will be worth it. I'll probably SNAP if it somehow produces some other kind of apple though. -
Where did you get your trees from? I have never seen bare root tress like that. The only ones I can find are at Home Depot or Lowes and they are outrageously priced.

Hi Kim. I planted 2 different apple trees so they could pollinate each other. That's what I read on the paper it they came with. Good luck... hugs:-D

Hello,
I was watching the news tonight and it would talking about California, they were saying that there is a terrible drought going on there. and that half of our food is grown there in California, I like to get your input on this. My thinking is that this is going to dramatically drive up produce prices anything is made with produce anything that has fruit in it. For those people who have not started a vegetable garden or fruit garden, you should start something. Produce prices are going to dramatically affected. This drought in California will not only affect the cost of food here in the US but throughout the world. -
Hello
Don't do what I did my intentions were only to get 4 trees, I now have 31 dwarf fruit trees and 2 more on the way. When I plant my dwarf fruit trees I do not put anything in the hole, I let the roots go out and forage for food. I also mulch all of my trees at the time of planting 6 inches away from the trunk 4 inches deep free woodchips, the trees will get bigger and greener, and not require less care. Each year some people treat them with a dormancy spray, just before the buds break. The second year most peach trees will produce a couple of peaches. The third-year they will produce a good crop, always thin them so that you get fruit the following year. I love fruit trees. That's why the majority of my Orchard are fruit trees.I grow them in high density planning 21 inches apart. So that I can install more trees. Wish you much success they're very easy to grow if you follow a few principles. soak the roots four hours before planting bare root tree, full sunlight remember to mulch them. At planting, cut them off at 28 inches this will set up a better branches structure. keep up the great work and thank you for sharing. -
I love the cameo by Camera Guy. He is a very talented guy, if he is also the one editing the vids and so on. Please let me know if he plans on start his own Youtube channel, as I would subscribe.
Thanks. -
Hey CaliKim!
I would just love to plant a few fruit trees too! We have a little piece of property and I want to plant the right thing. We may go with a nut tree. Anyway, do you know if that variety requires cross pollination with another variety to produce fruit? I know most apple trees do, and blueberries are suppose to produce better when planted with other varieties. We love peaches, so good! -
Great video :-)

Hello Kim, Iam here in Corona and I just bought a babcock peach tree from Costco just like the one you just planted.I think it was like $ 11.99 a great deal. The directions say to remove from package and soak in a pail of water for 24 hours before planting.glad I read it, was gonna plant it today.check your local Costco. Iam going back for another tree,as they had other varieties including apple trees.Hope this helps,Cris P.S. Thanks for all your info we all apperciate it

If I actually thought he would do it, I'd take him up on that. I would even throw in some of the jams, jellies and syrup that I make from wild fruit and berries.

Good luck Kim... I hope they turn out. I had a dwarf lemon tree in my backyard and it produced exactly 1 lemon in 5 years. It was the strangest thing. It never fell off the tree, stayed on for 2 years. I had to check the tree several times to make sure it wasn't plastic. Ha and the tree never got taller then 3 feet. Very bizarre

Hi Kim! Camera Guy did such a great job digging those holes, I was wondering if I could borrow him in the spring. I have 6 Saskatoon berry trees and 1 apple tree to dig holes for.
-
Kim,
Here is a link to a photograph (not taken by me) that explains what I was talking about. There is sort of an elongated 'S' curve at the point of the graft, and that is what I saw on your video...at least I think so. Wayne

I'm not personally familiar with the difference between a regular tree and a "dwarf" tree. What does that mean, have they just manipulated the genetics over time to make them smaller? I'm curious... :-) This looks super easy, I'm going to have to give this a shot.
Has Anybody Else Planted Dwarf Trees?

I'm so excited to see if our dwarf fruit trees will bear any fruit this year. We have a 3 dwarf apple and a dwarf cherry!
One thing you did great, but might be helpful to clarify: Grafted trees need to be planted so that the graft between the root and the trunk is well above (say, 2") the soil line.
If the soil gets above the graft, the trunk could put out new roots and suddenly your tree would grow into a standard size tree! Yikes!
